Looks like it will be a slugfest between the two dems Rendell and Casey in the demo primary.
Its either Casey or Luksik
Are you out of your mind? Yes, both are pro-life but Casey's father was a disaster for this state. Businesses got out of here like crazy and he wouldn't sign death warrants, which is why are death row is so crowded. Luksik has run 2X and doesn't have a shot in hell. A vote for her is a vote for Casey
Look, Fisher's not perfect but at least he would try to upkeep some of Ridge's policies. And quite frankly it doesn't matter that Casey and Luksik are pro-life, but let's fact it, abortion is stillgoing to be legal till SCOTUS decides otherwise, and PA already has one of the toughest abortion laws in the U.S. Ridge wasn't pro-life but he followed the law, just as Fisher will do. Anything to prevent another Casey from running the state into the ground
1st, Casey has name recognition becasue of daddy
2nd, Casey will get the conservative Democratic vote
Randell would only get the Eastern Vote. Fisher would get the Western PA vote (republician and democratic) and the T section of the Commonwealth. Casey will eat into both the T section of the Commonwealth and Western PA vote becasue of daddy.
If Casey Junior is like his father, then he will be pro-life... and on the far left on every other issue. Sure, that puts Casey slightly to the right of Philly Scumbag Rendell (no great feat there).
In a Casey/Fisher/Luksik matchup, while Luksik may be the more ideologically-pure candidate of the Right, Luksik cannot win (don't delude yourself). I would have to see some solid evidence that Fisher is Arlen Specter's "twin brother" before I would waste my vote by casting it against him. So, is he?

As a pro-lifer myself, I agree. Nothing a Governor can do will outlaw abortion. The President can't even outlaw abortion. Until there is a Constitutional amendment or the SCOTUS decides otherwise, Roe v Wade is the law of the land regarding abortion just as much as Bush v Gore is the law of the land regarding fair elections.
Fisher campaigned for AG on the promise that he would seek reciprocity with other states on CCW. Just weeks ago, not longer after announcing his bid for governor, he finally did announce that there are agreements in place with 2 states, one of which is Kentucky. Kentucky last year had made it their state law that your CCW in your home state would be valid there without any thing further being neccessary. So Fisher's eleventh hour 'sucess' is nothing more than pandering for the sake of vote getting from gun owners. He had repeatedly ignored attempts by Florida and West Virginia to arrange reciprocity for their citizens.
He has also overlooked state and federal law violations by the esteemed former governor Tom Ridge and the PA State Police while they maintained a gun owners data base.
I will not support Fisher. He is the epitome of the cheesey, fake smiling politician who will pat you on the back only to gain a better vantage point to stab you in the back or reach into your wallet.
I lost a bit of respect for Gov. Casey after he was snubbed at the 1992 convention. If I had been in his position, I would have told the Democrats to f#ck off and endorsed President Bush in the election.
I have talked to Peg Luksik several times in the last year and she claims that she will not put her hat back into the ring again but I will keep trying to change her mind. She is solidly pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-freedom, period.
She is the brightest, best informed, most articulate candidate to run for governor. As such, sadly, she doesn't stand a chance of winning in this state. But I would vote for her again.
I'm moving back to PA soon. Who are you voting for, then?
Casey's father may have been a "hero" for being muzzled at the Dem convention but that's as far as his "conservative" credentials go. I've lived through 8 years of one Casey and I damn sure don't want 4 more.
A good question without a good answer, my friend. Maybe we can go without a governor for the next four years and see if we really need one. If it works out, maybe it will start a new trend.
The alternative, however, I think would be much worse.
Rendell pretends to be moderate, but only bowed to the Philly elite in trying to run the city. He's no free marketeer and would probably seek to raise taxes. He's a social lefty as well.
Casey probably has the best shot since many people will think that his father has either been resurrected or is still doing well with the transplant. If he wins, Mumia will die in prison of natural causes 30 years from now.
Fisher sucks, but I'll hold my nose.
