It just goes to show that the "average" American is a straight-shooter and has a soft spot in their hearts for the down-trodden!

They only need to fear us if they are against us!!

As an ex-squid, I can tell you I took plenty of grief from the jarheads about my "dixie-cup" white hat!!

I wouldn't advise you to make a crack like that around this guy or he'd probably tear you a new one!!

Though I must agree that is one ridiculous looking hat!

I think these soldiers take great pride in wearing uniforms that illustrate their attention to duty and their pride in their units. They pose proudly and sharply. To have a spectatcular uniform meticulously maintained and worn with pride must mean a lot to them. Comparing a cockade like the pleated ones here to animals is demeaning. We don't mock the uniforms of our own military. Why should we diminish the pride taken in the uniforms of other countries? No offense meant here, just making an observation.

My favorite,

Six granddaughters I know they keep you on your toes. I can't imagine life before 9/11 for children who later would become women. The terrorists miscalculated what they would gain and lose.

While watching Fox News "Day of Terror 9.11.2001" earlier there was a clip with a voice-over of a man asking how George Bush will handle this, I believe his Administration has handled this very well.

This picture has been seen everytime the US goes to war...Hershey bars and
Cocoa packets...are invariably passed to little kids to give them an even bigger lift!!

Great picture. The USA humanitarian aid history of huge shipments in the wake of WWI and WWII
continues. Shades of those guys dropping chocolate bars from their transports to waiting
German children on the ground during the Berlin Airlift.
Let the rest of the world call us suckers and softies...what else can
any decent human do when you see malnourished children and their beleagured parents?

One advantage of living a while...getting to see some good parts of history being repeated.

LOL! You should say "Drive Inn Movie Theater"...some posters/lurkers that are too
young will be asking themselves: "Why would you get into the trunk to go to McDonalds
or some other Drive-in (through) restaurant!
