Thanx .... we'd love to be able to send a few inches to you (there's lots to spare!); however I have come to understand that there are strict regs on where we can put all the excess snow.

Many had proposed that we simply dump it into Lake Erie or the Niagara River (which leads into Lake Ontario), but supposedly the salt content of the plowed material would make that "unfriendly" to the fishies. (But it's OK to dump it onto open landfills and let the stuff leach into the soil ...)

We would only want to send you the finest "pristine" Buffalo snow anyway ;^)

I am more aggressive....I would like to request 24 inches of the white stuff. The good news for folks in my area and east is that there are indications of a change to a more stormy pattern late late next week....it is possible there may be a decent snowstorm also.

The guy in the photo with the dolphins jacket is pretty funny. See..... if he wore ANY other jacket, representing ANY other team, people would be HELPING him. Put on a Dolphins jacket in Buffalo, in a storm, and you dig-push your own sorry ass out. He'll still be stuck if the plow drivers see him......hee hee

Also, our mayor (no...not MY mayor, I live outside the city) is vacationing in Albany. WBEN is making excuses all over the place for his not being here. Heck, he could have DRIVEN back here days ago. Yep, even with the thruway closed, he could have done it. It's clear all the way until about 50 miles from Buffalo, and WBEN is telling people what the workaround routes are.

Another interesting side note about Buffalo snowstorms: In the "Blizzard of the Century" in 1977, there were some coal cars in the railroad yard and nobody knew what to do with them. So they filled them with snow and sent them to W. Va. There were 800 of them.

However, it was only a few years later when Buffalo had a Winter Festival and NO SNOW. We imported it from somewhere in New England.

Yup, it's weather like this that makes me, being born in Detroit, glad that Pop moved us south (FLA), and I moved southwest (CA)!

Every New Years gets California a new bunch of eastern immigrants right after the Rose Parade is seen on TV. Of course with Fienstein, Boxer and Davis .... one has to wonder what's worse! ;-) Maybe moving to Buffalo ain't so bad afterall!

Hey Mom, kitkat et all, just checking in. This is the first I've been online since before Christmas. Our street was finally cleared last night at 1am. Snow started on Christmas Eve and we saw our first front loader (no plow could get down our street, we had 5 feet packed down hard from people on the street making beer and bread runs up to Wilson Farms!) yesterday morning. It took the front loader and dump truck almost 24 hours to do our short street. I loved it. The neighbors all worked together, pretty much around the clock, snowblowing and shoveling for each other. We even helped the front loader by shoveling the snow into the street, we just followed him down the street (with our beers) and had a blast. It was a bit cold though. The best part was he had to stop half way down the street because he would load up and then back up to the dump truck on Mckinley. So half way down, they started from Abbott, to reduce the back up time. Guess where my house is? Exactly halfway mark! I had a 14 foot high, 6 foot wide mound of snow in front of my house for a good part of the day yesterday. Made for good sledding.

My kids loved this storm. "It's the first time we can play in the street!" It was the safest place for a couple of days, away from the snow blowers. Older neighbors saying this is much worse than the Blizzard of 77 in terms of amount of snow and length of being buried in.

My minivan is buried but hubby got his car out and went to work for first time today since 12/24. I won't be driving for at least another couple of days. It will take us at least a day or so to shovel and snowblow it out. Plus, we've got the narrow driveway and no place to put the snow. Yesterday, I did part of the driveway between our houses and I felt like I was insulating my neighbors house, snow going up the side of her house and her windows. Cool!

Hope all fellow Buffalo freepers are hanging in there. I know lots of streets aren't even touched yet. But the main streets are ready for the darn torch! Arrrgh!

Rudy would have got home somehow! Dumb jock liberal Democrat..drive a city into bankrupcy and can't drive home in an emergency

That irks me beyond belief. I didn't know he was awol, but I'm not surprised. The good news is Rush will NOT be preempted today, the first time since 12/24. I hope he's on, but it probably won't be him. Anyway, hang in there guys!

Similar story except our street is an alternate emergency route..(a secondary) we got the lifters (no plows) Saturday..they broke our fire hydrant so yesterday they were back digging out the area to fix it.

The Blizzard had aweful winds..much of the snow was wind driven (you know tim..he was baptized during it *grin* Yes I am a determined woman)This is far worse in terms of snow fall. We have 5-6 feet on our deck!

On the leadership issue(or lack of it) I thought it was interesting that Schumer made it here Friday,,and the dumb jock was not here.

If the pubbies put up a liberal candidate I am going to vote for Schumer..He is the first one in my OLD memory to care about WNY ,he comes here every time there is a problem.

glad you are well I was worried about you

Be safe
