Awwww! That stinks.

Let me tell you a story about one of our dogs. When our 1st German Shepherd was about 14 months old, hubby tried to get her to come to him one day. She was feeling quite spunky and disobedient. No matter how much pleading with her she would not come. Finally, he got a tad upset....picked up a small branch that had fallen in the yard and whooshed it around. It never even came close to her and he had no intentions of hitting her. Since she had never heard that sound before or seen her "daddy" get so angry she immediately jumped into the truck like he had wanted her to do. After that incident all he had to do is carry a big stick. :-)

When we got our 2nd Shepherd, we did the same thing. Now all I have to do is say...I'll get my stick" and Elsa comes running.

This may not work on designer hounds, however, we are batting 100% with German Shepherds. :-)

Cassie update: Neighbor down the street had caught her, but she slipped her collar off and eluded him. He came to tell me and give me the collar. I got my coat and said I would come get her. I opened the front door, and there was the dog, who stuck her nose in the house, and then took off again.

I followed her down the street, calling her, and then gave up. I started walking home and she was following me, so I went in the back gate, leaving it open. She came in, saw me, and ran out again before I could close the gate.

FINALLY, she got cold and came into the back yard, whereupon I sneaked out through the garage and shut the gate behind her. Then she still wouldn't come in the house (no doubt thinking she would climb the fence again) so I had to entice her in with Charlie's cat food on a dish.

She is now snoozing and is in much disgrace. I am worn out.

I did hear the President is going to appear to take some questions in about an hour. This should be interesting.

I had a coon dog once named Jasper, best coon dog in the south. One thing we found wrong with him, He would run deer at night and tree coons in the day, never did get him trained to tell the difference from night and day.
