Just got a call from John. He is up in San Jose preparing for the move. The system will probably be coming down about two hours from now and it will probably be down for a couple hours. When it comes back up we will be on our new IP address which will be: 209.157.64.200

He has set the current DNS service to expire every hour, so it should not take too long for the new address to propagate out to all the name servers.

Hmmm... perhaps I'll go read a book in the interim period. I need to finish "the book that just wouldn't end" -- a book that I've been reading for months but can't seem to finish.

Thanks for the fair warning! I'm sure that FR will come back better than ever.

Just please remember to start a thread so I can go and whine and moan about how FR was better back in the "good ol' days" and how "FR's not the same anymore" and so on and so forth. So I, and many others (admit it) can get it out of our systems upfront. :)

I'll be making the voyage to UUNET now; about 30 minutes from now I'll pull the plug on the hardware, swap in a standby site, and get ready to haul Free Republic five minutes down the street to Verio. Undoubtably UUNET will have us jump through hoops, and we will. Certainly Verio will have us jump through hoops again, and we will. Optimistically, we'll be back online two hours from now. Count on three. My apologies for not having a functional stand-in site ready, as I hold told Jim earlir. It ended up being a terribly difficult task which I hadn't scheduled nearly enough time to complete.
