This is wonderful Tonkin ! You are such a special person. I am so honored to be your adopted sister. Thank you soooo much for all you do.
Tonkin I pray so much that TONS of FReepers send Christmas greetings and emails to our troops. I just sent two more. If each day , everyone would send even one email, can you imagine the outpouring of love and support. It would be so wonderful.
Thank you again !!!!!!

Thanks for the reminder - a couple more emails sent - Merry Christmas to you, Tonkin Gulf - and to all who have worked so hard since Sept 11th to connect us with exactly the right ways to help during this time of national crisis.
God bless all in our military! God keep them safe, give them victory, and bring them home soon!

I remember exactly where I was 30 years ago today. Eating a rolled turkey roast off of the fender of a 5 ton truck while listening to AFVN on the radio broadcast Bob Hope. We had a two man allocation to go see him. The first sergeant put every soldier's name on slips of paper in a "steel pot" and then had the newest private draw two out. They got picked up by a "slick" that morning and then brought back that evening. Ddin't even get a night out of the field. We prayed the cease fire would hold until the 26th. It did.

Nice work,Tonkin. I wish all those serving could see what you do!

Thank you for making it so easy for us to show our support. Your countless hours in support of our troops are very much appreciated.
I sent one message to each branch. Even though I'm partial to the Coast Guard and Navy, I didn't want to leave anyone out.
Busy day, I'll drop by the Canteen. Merry Christmas, dear Tonkin! Barb

Hi SLB. I just read your post to hubby. He just retired from the Marine Corps in September. He said to remind you that, you could have been eating "Ham and eggs Chopped" (?) He said he hated that.
And then like a true Marine, he went into the garage and brought me a small box with MRE's in it. The box contains:
One brown pouch. (He said you would know what that was.)
A can of Peanut butter
A can of "Crackers" and Candy
A can of "Fruit Cocktail"
A can of "Ham and eggs Chopped"
We figure this MRE is from 1983.
I will be taking bids on the MRE's, ROFLOL (just kidding).
P.S. We also have a few "Tuna Fish" cans out there somewhere.

I "retired" in December 1994. I spent 25 years wearing the unifrom and loved every minute of it. I complained like any normal GI, but the National Anthem still sends shivers up my spine.
May God bless America this Christmas and forever.

Thirty three years ago today we got the word that a AF pilot was down in our AO. His radio had given out and intel said the bad guyas hadn't found him yet. That night as far as he was concerned Santa had a green face and Santa's sleigh was a medivac.
