Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

You raise a terribly important point: God made us all with separate gifts and specialties, and as such, everyone will not deal with all things in the same way. Paul could not even get along with Silas. Do you (not you personally, generically) really think that they had "unscriptural" or "different" views of the Gospel? No, of course not. But they did have different gifts.

Some people on this thread are determined that no one do God in any way except theirs. Boy will they be surprised when they see the variety of Christians in Heaven! And, yes, all you nit-pickers, I said "Christians" and certainly don't think Muslims of Hindooos will make it, so take a flying leap.

"God will use whoever . . ." Indeed. Rahab was a prostitute and wisdom came from a donkey. Jesus managed to pay a tax from a fish's mouth. If anyone here thinks that just because Jan Crouch has (to me, odd) pink hair, she hasn't indirectly helped bring thousands of people into heaven, well, then there is a bridge I want to sell you.

For Pete's sake, think of how people viewed John the Baptist! This guy didn't BATHE for a couple of years, and ate BUGS. Pink hair is nothing compared to him.

You know, Fred Price even uses a trick that I have picked up to use with my students. He will have the congregation turn to a passage, then he will change one or two words to make a point. They catch him on it instantly, and he will challenge them: "No, doesn't your Bible say thus and so?"

This gets people to READ and PAY ATTENTION to even the smallest details of the Word.

The Bible's condemnation of false teachers is not limited to a condemnation of antinomianism. I think God is more jealous for Truth than you have noticed

Doc who says your readings are perfect? I know better than to claim mine are I rely on conviction and revelation by the Holy Spirit to reveal the truths to me and for me. Go back and do some reading on the early church. The arguements in here are about akin to those of circumsision of which caused a great uproar among the faithfull. That has been my point all along. Now will the fact you do so or not allow circumsission condemn you? No of course not it does not matter. Yet was this not as well a point of serious division? It is a matter outside the Gospel it was Biblical but outside the Gospel.

I have said all through out this thread we are saved by Grace through faith through our belief and acceptance of GOD's salvation. The fact that I may not agree will Brother Joe's idea on spiritual gifts or whatever ect has not one thing to do with that.

The Gospel is not the entire Holy Bible it is the first four books of the NT. Mathew, Mark {probably Peters account to him}, Luke who as well wrote Acts, and John. Gospel actually means Good News. The message of salvation through Christ. It is not Pauls church doctorine nor is it the Law of Moses.

You know, there is a verse (you'd have to find it, as I'm too sleepy right now!) that says it is God's will that none should perish, but all should come into an eternal relationship with His Son. I'm sure one of the Bible-hall-monitors will produce this instantly :)

Well, if it's "His will," they why aren't they already saved? Obviously, they have to DO something with "His will." Likewise with health, prosperity, fear, it is NOT "His will" that people are sick, defeated (question, was Jesus EVER, EVER physically ill? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?). But God will LET you do drugs, He will LET you join with prostitutes, He will LET you fly planes into towers. But that isn't His will.

My favorite verse for those who think that God can do anything in this earth just because He is God is where Jesus goes to Nazareth to work miracles, but "there, He could do no mighty works, save heal a few sick people" because of their "unbelief." So apparently their unbelief had something to do with the SON OF GOD not being able to do a MIRACLE!

"I think she is a nice lady. But she is a cookie-cutter word of faith (how to get God to do something for you) i.e Copeland, Hagan, Hickey, etc."

The preachers in the man-centered religions are always the most *popular* and rake in the biggest bucks in the religion racket that falsely calls itself "Christian".

Those who preach the Truth are never popular with people who think Christianity is all about them.

In case they don't know it, God is focused on one thing, and that is glorifying HIMSELF.

That is why he is reserving his worst punishment for those who arrogantly run when he didn't send them and misrepresent who he is and what he is doing. Jude 13.

Once again, this is a slander without evidence. Every so-called "name it and claim it" (I prefer the term, "faith" people) person validates and verifies points repeatedly. Fred Price's standard operating procedure is "in the mouths of two or three witnesses." So you must be listening to people other than the faith people I know.

I've already freepmailed you apologizing for my slight on Jan Crouch. But on this i will not apologize. I slandered no one. I simply said SOME of them pull verses out and abuse them. And that is FACT. There are many who will tell people they are not healed because they don't have enough faith. That is a CROCK. I did not name names, so do not accuse me of slandering. I believe God can heal. But I do not believe we can know his reasons for not healing. And to tell someone they don't have enough faith flies in the face of the Word of God. We cannot know Gods reasons for doing what he does, we can only know that all will work to his glory.

"Less mentioned was a out and out perversion of the entire Gospel that Paul taught about as well."

May I draw your attention to Jude 3?

He mentions "The Faith".

I'm SURE you know that he is talking about an entire "recognized body of beliefs" when he uses the phrase "The Faith". It is the SAME "body of beliefs" that Paul and the rest of apostles taught - the "Apostolic Faith".

He commands Christians to contend for it so as to prevent false teachers from harming the church.

Their division was necessary. The early church was disobiedent. It was not operating by the Great Commission it was of sorts becoming closer to a commune rather than a ministry to the world. {I know I'm fixing to catch heat here on that one}. They were staying in an isolated setting and together among themselves which was not spreading the Gospel to the world. "I will smite the shepherd and scatter the sheep." Yes it did happen the percitutions began and that furthered the Gospel message. It made the believers move apart.

I believe later on Paul & Silas reconciled as did Paul with Mark. What was accomplished though? Paul & Silas divided doubled the spreading of the Gospel between them. GOD had other plans for Mark as well of whom the dispute was over. Pehaps the Gospel of Mark would not have been written if he had stayed with Paul. Only GOD knows the answer. Both were only wrong to the degree of their quarel with each other.

There ARE no "doctrinal disagreements" in a truly orthodox Christian church over the "essential" doctrines. Those are set. The squabbles are always over non-essential (meaning non-salvational) doctrines such as baptism and how it should be performed, etc.

Good summary.

Joyce Meyer....the one thing that I remember is that someone came into my office and asked me to sign a petition started by her to ask GWB to act like a Christian. It required name, address and phone as I recall. Then I was supposed to send it to Joyce's ministry. Gee, I wonder what for??? Needless to say, I chose not to be put on a mailing list.

About her preaching.....who cares what she says, she is in disobedience. God chose men as the spiritual head of the family. Her husband should be preaching, not her.

Only the first link you posted in no#289 worked. The 2nd and 3rd ones came up "bad request". That first one is very eye opening, but I'm not surprized at her doctrines. Birds of a feather flock together...i.e. TBN

Not necessarily.

A lot of people who are very busy in the Christian religion are very immature.

BTW, you don't have mail [grin].

Tell you what I have no idea of what church you belong but I will say this much. If I locked you and a dozen members in a room for a month to discuss the Gospel I would dare say each of you would come out calling the other Apostates. Someone would get jealous over anothers faith and demand a higher purity of them. In short no one will ever please you or your church as it is too judgemental. All have sinned and fall short that means me, you, your preacher, mine, and all of us. How then can we be saved? Through GOD all things are possible. My salvation does not depend on what you or your church or anyone elses thinks it should be. My salvation depends on what GOD word says it should be. His word on that matter is simple.

My answering for my convictions is too GOD not Reverand preachers or my neighbors callings and beliefs but that of which GOD through which the Holy Spirit convicts or reveals that I should do. I believe GOD still deals with individuals and ask different task or things of different persons for his divine purposes. GOD did not just say here it is see you in 2000 years.

Thank God because the immature are the ones most on fire for the Lord. They are doing the "grunts" work of spreading his word. And leading the lost to Christ.

You should not cast dispersions of somone being immature when you know them not!

"Only the first link you posted in no#289 worked"

You're right! I tried them and got the same result! I wonder why! I have the addresses in an email I sent myself and tried them from there, and they work fine. Let's see if they will work this time. I'll post a couple more with them, too:

Word of Faith Heresy Or here if the link doesn't work: http://www.banner.org.uk/links/other-wof.html

Deception in the Church (John Hagee and Joyce Meyer both are on the deceivers list) Read all about the heresy they teach HERE Or here if that link doesn't work: http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/page3.html

Many souls are in heaven because of TBN and those that make fun and critize it will have to answer for it one day!

I have watched TBN for 20 years. That lady with the pink hair has the most humble spirit I've ever seen. Yes, she's eccentric....but so was my 75yr old Auntie with the fishnet stocking and go-go boots...*chuckle* (We loved the twinkle in her eye...and she would have given you the shirt off her back.. if you needed it)

It's amazing that they are the ONLY 24hr. Christian Network that is sustained solely through contributions....and they won't "sell out" to secular advertising. (CBN did this... and immediately went down the tubes)

The black preacher... was it E.V. Hill?
