Switzerland, commented Niccolo Machiavelli in the 16th century, is "the most armed and most free" of all the nations of Europe. Since 1674, Switzerland has observed a policy of strict neutrality, using its civilian militia to protect its borders and refraining from interference in the affairs of other nations. To this day, Switzerland - which quite sensibly has declined to join the United Nations - remains independent of military alliances. And on 2 December 01, Swiss voters resoundingly defeated a proposal to abolish its citizen-based armed forces.
Switzerland Without an Army, the leftist, pro-EU group which proposed the referendum, denigrated Switzerland's citizen army as an "outdated institution and a 'man's world where blind obediance and contempt of women still rules' " "People are hanging on to certainties, to the suppoesed existing security," complained Tobia Schebli, a spokesman for the anti-army group.
The Swiss government, in materials published prior to the vote, pointed out: "Even if the risk of a military threat against Switzerland appears weak today it cannot be permanently ruled out." The government also noted that abolishing the army would put an end to the nation's neutrality, since it would become upon alliances for defense in the event of an attack.
Wouldn't want to run up against into one of those in a the likes of a P-40 Warhawk or Hawker Hurricane (I'd even be worried with the likes of a late-model P-51 or Spitfire); albeit the moose wouldn't be very happy either.
First of all, they've made lots of cheese and goats (not in that order). They also made lots of money after selling out to Nestle their formula for chocolate milk. Since they have all of that money, they made hundreds of (Nazi, Allied and anybody who dared step into their airspace) warplanes crash. They needed banks to put the money in so they made those. Since they didn't want anybody to know about the money in these banks, they made special bank accounts. Since they didn't want they account to lose value over time, they made gold-based currency on which the accounts were valued. Since they needed extra cash, they made everybody in the world use their banking system whenever it was most suitable for individuals to not shout from the highest Swiss mountain tops how much non-gold money (otherwise known as stuff) they had to be legally plundered from anybody who had bigger and faster shooting guns or lawyers.
So as you can see, they made a lot of stuff. Coockoo clocks is only a cover that they made (for coockoo's like you) to keep this all secret.
Yes, you do. The assault rifle, that is. Heavier weapons are not generally stored in private homes, although sometimes the army actually has a "garage sale" - and private citizens can buy. You want a howitzer and can pay for it, it's yours :).
Even worse, taliban with stinger missles, chinese nuclear warheads atop missles with USA guideance systems (Thanks bill xlinton!), islamic KLA thugs killing Serbs with US special forces covering their backs, etc.
