It wasn't just that NBC's Tim Russert was throwing softballs last Sunday to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on "Meet the Press." Indeed, as the New York Times noted, Mr. Russert's questions "were not all softballs." This is true. Some of his questions were big, old shiny beach balls that Mrs. Clinton could lob back and never see followed up. Mr. Russert began his interview by quoting a recent statement by Mrs. Clinton regarding the Clinton administration's efforts against terrorism: "We did what needed to be done and could be done," Mrs. Clinton told a Syracuse audience, adding Clintonesquely, "but it was not near enough of what should have been done." Quite logically, Mr. Russert wondered what Mrs. Clinton had meant. "What more should have been done?" he asked.

Pardon me, but that's a steamin' pile of bullclinton. He had the charm and persuasion skills to sell anything he wanted to the sucker-moms. If he had really wanted to do something about terrorism (other than lob cruise missiles at empty buildings in the middle of the night to "make a statement"), he could have turned on that scuzzy charm and convinced them that it was the right thing to do and had to be done.
But that would have meant giving up the mindnumbing mantra of "8 years of peace and prosperity." And THAT is the reason, my friends, that he and his administration pointedly refused to even *look* at the overwhelming evidence that the Sudanese government had compiled on bin laden.
And the fact that he's a lazy, amoral, selfish coward is what murdered 3000+ people and nearly killed me three months ago.
America elected and then reelected what America wanted and deserved. September 11 is the tab. Thank God we had the right president when the bill came due.
oh, and chicky, if you'll recall it wasn't Dubya in 96 it was BOB DROLE and JACK UNKEMPED. Oh yea, they would have rooted out terrorism. . .oh and don't forget, that was when Senator not-a-LOTT was Majority leader!!!Now there's a real warrior. . .oh yea, he would have gotten it done!
Sorry to say, the political will to do what Dubya is doing now was born out of the sacrifice of 3500 dead Americans. It is further bolstered by the awareness that terrorist can wreak mass destruction and mayham within our borders. That did not exist before September 11, chick, thus nobody, and I mean nobody, was going to do a damn thing!!
Now that the war against the Toweliheads is nearly over it is time to look at what allowed 9/11 to happen. We are passed the shock stage and nearly through the payback stage so it is time to reflect and observe what were the reasons that let this terrible tragedy to occur. We can blame America like Bill the Clown and use the excuse that we had injustices in our history towards Blacks and Indians. Perhaps in that vein he could pay back the Native Americans he fleeced during his campaign drive. No, these are just the same old slick change the topic away from his responsibility tactic he and his wife are famous. Divert the countrys attention from what really forced our country to lower its guard and become an easy target.
Janet, See No Hear No Reno single highhandedly destroyed the Justice Dept and that infrastructure which protects this country. By using the DOJ as a dirty cop to hide her bosses trivial affairs she devalued the once great agency into the disgrace that it became. In addition to wasting a huge amount of these dedicated and highly trained peoples talents on how to keep a perjurer out of jail she spent huge amounts of capital on insignificant matters. Wasting these peoples time on political jewels such as Elian Gonzales rather than a simple immigration matter is in conscionable.
Janet Reno will go down as the worst AG in the countrys history as she aggressively prosecuted every PC law on the books while ignoring vital prosecutions. Rather than attempting to thwart terrorist cells throughout this country and mapping their movements she was nailing homosexual rights cases. Rather than developing counterterroist espionage, she was persecuting cops who accidentally shot someone in a dark alley protecting New Yorks neighborhoods. This was a twofold blow in that she politicized the department for her corrupted associates while she destroyed the morale of the DOJ. In addition to destroying the morale of the DOJ she also destroyed the morale and character of the police depts who are todays heroes.
The same destruction to the fabric of the vital security forces in the DOJ such as the FBI and CIA occurred throughout the co-presidents administration. The Clowns played the same political gamesmanship with the Federal law enforcement agencies and the Pentagon. We are running threadbare in both law enforcement and the military due to the assaults that were made on them over the past 8 years. The only thing that is returning them to success is that GW has turned the morale 180 degrees in 9 mos. He has reminded them that they are heroes who protect and defend us every day of every year.
The speech that was delivered by bill The Clown in Georgetown was especially low since it was a pure deflection from his incompetence rather than a true belief. To again tear down the honor of our Forefathers is inexcusable yet predictable as he will never become one. As a student of Presidential history it is doubtful he could find one more traitorous White House occupant in this countrys past than himself. His pardoning and coddling of terrorists while destroying the security of this country is inexcusable. Did he cause the attack on the WTC? No, but his personal dream world without consequences led him to ignore our defenses and the 9/11 terrorists made NY pay for his world view. Thank God that we have a President who loves this country enough to repair the damages that the Co-Clowns have sown.
Prayers for GW and America!
And I believe that Bob Dole knows all too well about fighting for freedom and would have done the right thing if he had been in the White House. Maybe Clinton wouldn't have had to do something on this scale, but there's a HELL of a lot of room between what he (barely) did and what President Bush is doing. Clinton made almost no effort to go after bin laden and even less of an effort to rally the American people. He failed miserably at his job, and I'm doing whatever I can to help make sure that history reflects that he was one of the worst presidents we've ever had.
