"My litte son," how wonderful that would be to hear Our Lady say to me, to us. The first time I read her words to Juan Diego I was brought back to the Church. I will try to provide some links. I'm not very sophisticated for pictures.

Sorry I'm a bit late arriving to this little fracas, but here goes... I am not Catholic, but some of my dearest friends are, so I don't consider myself a Catholic basher, even though I disagree with most of the theology. I've been to the basilica in Mexico City and seen the tilma as close as I could get. It sure looks like a painting to me. Some also call it the Black Madonna because Mary's skin tone doesn't look like a lily-white European's -- the indians were said to be more attracted to the image and its message for that reason. I'm sure the image served its purpose of conversion, even though it wasn't divine in origin -- but then I don't accept the Shroud of Turin as divine, either. I don't require manifestations, apparitions, signs, or "miracles" to believe the Gospel -- just the internal evidence of Truth contained therein.

I believe in LAdy of Guadalupe, and I believe she will liberate South America from facist Marxism. She weighs down on my soul right now.

I laughed my ass off reading that one. What a bunch of hogwash. Hey, I saw Jesus on a water tower once. Or it might have been Vince Lombardi, I'm not sure. Sort of looked like Jesus, though. Anyone who believes in this superstitious nonsense, or Fatima, or water tower images, is a fool. But what do I know, I am just a clown.

Peggy Noonan mentioned this miracle in an article regarding the impending meeting betweem President Bush and President Fox earlier this year. I bookmarked the site and have spent many an evening perusing this enchanting story.
Y'all go there ya'here!

You know, we should really start a pool every time a "Catholic" thread is started to see how long it takes for the first Catholic-basher to post.

Just for fun, I posted the words of a beautiful song about Mary. And I won't apologize for recognizing Mary's role in Salvation History.
Go ahead and believe what you believe, but don't disrespect my religion. I don't need you to try to save my soul because God already sent His Only beloved Son and He gave him a real human mother. Not someone to worship but yes, someone to love, respect and emulate.
Woman Who Says Yes
"Mary, maiden true,
Woman who says yes,
Pray for us now
And at the hour of our death.
Please, bring us to Jesus, our Lord and Master true.
Your Son and your God,
The One for W.hom you live.
In the fullness of our time,
A woman bore a son.
Found to be with child but protected by her husband's love,
She dared to say: "yes" to the angel's way;
Such courage, and strength, and grace!
"Mary, be not afraid",
Were Gabriel's words that day,
"Highly favored one, pure bearer of the Holy Son.
Spouse of the Holy Spirit,
Covered by His Love.
Magnify the Lord now,
Bring joy to everyone.

Thanks for posting the story of Our lady of guadalupe . I was trying to compose a summary myself, but this is really great .
The studies of the images in the eyes are convincing ,even more so than the survival of the tilma itself for over 400 years, even surviving the bomb that melted the candlesticks .

I find it most interesting that the Supreme Court decision which gave the Presidency to George Bush Junior was rendered on the Catholic Feast Day of the Lady of Guadeloupe. I mean, George Bush opposes abortion, and Gore supported it. The Lady of Guadelupe is the Catholic saint of the unborn, Very intersting indeed.
I always keep an open mind.

"Do not fear any illness or vexation, anxiety or pain. Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not your fountain of life? Are you not in the folds of my mantle? In the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else you need?" She then assured Juan that his uncle would not die from his illeness and at this very moment was cured. "WOW!!! She has so much power! Why did God bother to send Jesus. Mom of the Catholic Church has it all under control....
This is the biggest CROCK i've ever seen..

Roses bloomed
in December
on a hill,
unexpected promise
to a bishop
who had his doubts.
A faithful hand
gathered them
perhaps unsure
why he had been given
this mission,
but still willing to obey.
As they cascaded to the floor
one by one,
revealing a mystery
to the amazement
of those gathered,
did you smile, Lady,
at their wonder
that the mundane
could be shattered
by the touch
of a loving God?

the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. I understand it means "the girl, Holy Mary, paints herself."
Cap'n,
As a Knight of Columbus and Pro-Lifer, I've always loved Our Lady of Guadalupe. But my history is not great.
Columbus' ships must have been so named for another reason (?) because they pre-date the Guadalupe event by 39 years. I hope some well read Freeper could tell us more about Columbus' naming his ships.

At that time 8 million Mexicans and Aztec Indians converted to Catholicism. The human sacrifice to the pagan gods ceased. Sadly the human sacrifices to the pagan Gods of Political Correctness and Self-serving Humanism have resumed. Worse statues to Quetzalcoatl are being erected in our Christian nation(s).
Pray to Our Lady. Pray for Faith, pray for our nation and for mankind.

Our Lady of Guadalupe
God in the Details
When the Aztecs first saw the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe they were struck by its beauty. The blue-green color on Our Ladys mantle was immediately attractive, since this color would usually fade easily but remains ever bright on this image. The sunburst surrounding the image spoke of its grandeur and mysterious importance. The beautiful and tender face of Our Lady would have been inviting in a warm and personal way. If the Aztecs got up very close to the image, they would see an extremely small cross on the collar of Our Ladys garment. This small cross told them that the God that this beautiful Lady worshiped and invited all to know was the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Without noticing this small cross the image would merely be a beautiful curiosity. Instead, the small, easily unnoticed cross changed the lives of millions of Aztecs who were no longer enslaved to fearsome false gods; they had discovered that God is a Father.
Let us pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe that in this season of Advent we may not be enslaved by the gods of consumerism and to our own ideas about the way we think things should be.
Let us ask that the gift and tradition of Advent and Christmas will bring us close enough to see Jesus, whose love and presence continues to free us.
Reflection based on Luke 1:26-38
Father Richard Veras
Loving Father, make me aware of the mercy you offer us through the Son of Mary in every detail and circumstance of my life.
