This is the trailer for the eagerly awaited Mel Gibson epic. Didn't see it posted before. The book is excellent -- but will the film be worthy?

The one blot on his record is that damn Lethal Weapon (II?) movie which depicted "cop killer" bullets penetrating a bulldozer blade.

That was Lethal Weapon 3 (1992).

I had the extreme good fortune to meet (w/hubby Viet Vet and two sons) an ID Medal of Honor winner. Our boys were really sold short in VietNam. If you want to truly burn with anger (and realize that Walter Cronkite was only the precursor to BJC) read the book "Stolen Valor" by Burkett and Whitley.

Mel's movie looks like a great one. I'm so sorry that it is rated R as I would love to take my 13 yr. old to it.

...I was further Blessed to personally thank JACK SMITH for .."Getting our IA DRANG-1965 Message out" over the years to the American People and to bring him up to date on a fellow Charlie Company SkyTrooper at Landing Zone Albany who I ended up working with professionally years later.

...Again, a very grateful response from a very nice man.

...Further Blessed was I to be able to go over to General HARRY W.O. KINNARD, our 1st Air
Cav Commanding Officer ...This man, of "NUTS" at Bastogne Fame in World War II,
just blushed and melted before my very eyes from being thank himself.

For the younger lurkers...and any WWII-lore enthusiasts who (like myself) hadn't
heard of General Kinnard:

At 11:30 a.m. December 22, four German soldiers - two officers and two enlisted men -
under a white flag delivered a note to three American soldiers. The note demanded the
"honorable surrender" of Bastogne. McAuliffe, reading the message, laughed and murmured,
"Aw, nuts!" As the general wondered how to answer, his aide Lt. Colonel Harry W. O. Kinnard
suggested: "That first remark of yours would be hard to beat."
So McAuliffe sent the Germans a one-word reply in writing, and "Nuts" became legend.

When ALOHA RONNIE tells you he knows some famous historical figure...don't doubt it!

I would not be surprised if Mr. Gibson has (effectively) a similar deal as in appearing in "mainstream films" with folks like Danny Glover to earn that $20 million dollar/film to fund his more patriotic work with Icon Productions.

He does. He phoned in Lethal 4 (didn't even bother to grow out his hair) for that express purpose. His 20+ million dollar salary (plus a piece of the action) went directly to fund various Icon projects.
