I fall on your side of the fence. Whew! I was on pins and noodles, wondering "How will the Great Dissenter come down on this one?"

Whew! I was on pins and noodles, wondering "How will the Great Dissenter come down on this one?"Now, finally informed, you may return to your eternal slumber.
To: Lazamataz
Laz, you put the "large" in "largesse."
Zzzzzzz . . .

"...You do not go around bucking the status quo without taking some risk..."Ain't no thang, Jim! They push, we push-back, harder!
It's a great thing that you started here, pal. It also helps to be half-crazy. When I got out of the hospital after my last heart-procedure, I drove to Miami the next day to Freep algore! I was going 130 mph when part of the windshield moulding flew-off, and I had to slow down to 90! The Freep was important!
Keep-on with the 'Free Republic' purpose threads, and try to recover the ancient threads, even if-only for-sale on CD's. Bob Ireland is nuts for the original postings.
WRITE THE BOOK, DAMMIT!!
Stay well, my friend, and may God Bless You and Your Family with a Merry Christmas!........FRegards, Barry/gonzo...

Thanks, Gonzo. That's one of my favorite Waylon songs:
"I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane."
That, and:
"Mommas don't let your babies grow up to punch keyboards."
Merry Christmas!
Fregards, Jim

Laz, you put the "large" in "largesse." Zzzzzzz . . .Whereas, I've always viewed that you put the torpid sluggish dullard in "torpid sluggish dullard".
Funny how that worked out.

Required reading for all.
Question has that "other"site(Lucianne.com) been hit with this suit?
Is there a bumplist for this sort of thing? If not there should be, if there is PLEASE put me on it.
Have fun, play nice, be good. Well not too good.

Thanks, Jim, for posting this. I wasn't around when FR was formed and I appreciate the history lesson.
And I agree with the others -- Write a book!!!

I'm not sticking up for any of these online news sources or anything, but I think it is a good idea to post a headline, perhaps a paragraph, and then a link back to the original article so the source (and all of their ads)can get a hit. Sure you can cry about it, but eventually if they don't get enough hits, it's bye-bye news source. Then what?
Just my 2 cents.

Don't think I needed to be informed by Brian or anyone else of the risk. You do not go around bucking the status quo without taking some risk. I risked it all long before I ever heard of Brian Buckley. I was advised, however, that what we are doing on FR is perfectly legal and that we should win, even if we have go all the way to the Supreme Court. This was declared by my attorney many times in interviews, panel discussions, and even in his own postings on this website. Hell, my attorney even posted full text articles here himself. Yes, I am fully aware of the risk and so is he. Jim,
I will grant you that a lot of confident assurances were made on the board and elsewhere. I assumed that was for the benefit of rallying the troops.
I guess I would be surprised if Clarity didn't express private concerns to you about the unlikelihood of prevailing on the full text/fair use issue. Could it be that you wanted to pursue it and he went along with your wishes? Or perhaps he just wanted to try the case and you went along with him? Did he tell you privately that you would win?

Yes, but ...
The registry is not always accurate. I registered very (VERY) early on but was erroneously bounced once or twice. Hence my 'Member' date is at least a year late. Ah well ... I, for one, often enjoy Laz's picquant comments!

JimRob--I also think a book would be a good idea--and it would have lots of pictures (I have many from the impeachment rally and house managers dinner) I'd buy to give as gifts to all my lib friends and relatives!!!
To: Chong
Hi Chong don't know if you've seen this. There is also a part one that's really worth reading too.
To: Jim Robinson
Bump and waiting for Part III!
To: Betteboop

Are you the same little maggot that threatened to disclose personal information to the real life employers of another administrator who would not ban your constant critics?
