From "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" to the Doors' "The End," wars are often remembered by the songs they produce.
If that rule holds for America's war on global terrorism, then an independently produced little ditty entitled "The Ballad of Mike Moran" may be with us for generations.
Talk radio stations from coast to coast have been playing the song for two weeks now; a rousing choral effort memorializing Queens New York firefighter Mike Moran's taunt to Osama bin Laden to "Kiss my royal Irish a - -."
Moran's brother John, also a firefighter, died in the Twin Tower collapse.
At Paul McCartney's televised Oct. 20 benefit concert in honor of 9/11 martyrs, Moran dared the deadly terrorist to come get him - and even shouted out his address for millions to hear.
"I live in Rockaway. And this is my face, b---h."
Written by Californians Doug Cougan and Chris Storc and performed by "The Chamber Maid Brigade," the song's lyrics sing the praises of the FDNY:
"Theyre the bravest men Ive known... and Ill miss them everyday.
I will keep them in my heart, so theyre never far away.
In remembrance of my brothers, who from earthly bonds did pass.
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish a - - ."
Demand for the song went way up when Los Angeles radio talker Larry Elder played it on air. After nationally syndicated host Sean Hannity picked up the tune, requests came pouring in.
The group has cut a CD and is offering it for $9.11 (plus shipping) through the website www.firemansong.com.
Storc and Cougan say all proceeds will go to the families of the firefighters and rescue workers who died on 9-11.
You've got a great talent to ridicule some of these leftwing jerks right off the air. If the artists of the original tunes won't give permission, there are still more than enough in the public domain.
Betcha BCM is smilin' in heaven...BUMP!!!
RIA, God be with you through this Christmas season. I know it will be indescribably hard. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
