Well, enough threads lately on the "Arafat won't control the terror," because he also can't control some of it. PFLP is the communist org. that unsucessfuly tried to take him out once if I recall...

The terror he can control, he won't, and the then there is even more that he can't. He's utterly useless..

The USA and Israel are trusting Arafat to turn in leaders of terrorist groups, as if he would really arrest himself. Then the Israelis launch a rocket attack on Arafat's office while he is there but purposely miss him. And we wonder why the Palestinians are such emboldended terrorists.

I say get rid of Arafat, let the Palestinians pick Hamas or Hezbollah as their leaders. It will only expose their true nature and goals if they did. If they manage to pick respectable leaders with respectable goals so be it, and the world would be better off.
But, if a Hamas or Islamic Jihad were in power and attacking Israel, Israel would be even more justified in a total anihilation of that entitly and the threat to Israel.

Please post complete article rather than just the link...thanks!
13:30) PA demands PFLP head surrender The Palestinian Authority is demanding the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine turn over its leader Ahmed Sa'adat. Israel suspects Sa'adat of planning and ordering the killing of tourism minister Rehavam Ze'evi in a Jerusalem hotel in October. A PFLP member shot Ze'evi dead in a hallway of the Hyatt hotel. Sa'adat went undercover soon after the assassination. Israel gave the PA Sa'adat's name after the assassination, demanding the Palestinians arrest him. The PFLP reportedly rejected the PA's request, Army Radio said.

Arafat will simply give his comrade-in-arms some crumpets and tea and keep him out of sight for just long enough for the US to allow itself to call the weekend attacks on Israel "a couple of unfortunate incidents by radicals" (BTW, the over/under on that is noon, EST, 12/21/2001).

Exactly - they deserve the government they elect. Doesn't seem to matter who's in charge things can't get any worse than they are already.
Arafat will never achieve a peace agreement with Israel because he's totally commited to an "all or none" position. The next player no matter who will not be carrying the same sort of baggage.

Not only is the PFLP not going to do it, but Arafat knows that. This is playing word games in an attempt to demonstrate that he is actually cracking down. Baloney.
If the PA is serious, they should pick this guy up. Then they should raid the PFLP offices and arrest anyone connected to it. I don't believe for a second that the PA isn't aware of everyone who is associated with this terror group.

I think that's simply wishful thinking on your part. Remove Arafat and someone even more extreme and determined shall take his place.

13:30) PA demands PFLP head surrender The Palestinian Authority is demanding the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine turn over its leader Ahmed Sa'adat. Why didn't we think of this. Instead of asking the Taliban to turn over bin Laden, we should have asked Al Quaeda and we would have avoided a lot of spent amunition < / sarcasm>

True, but Arafat is causing many of his own problems by not being ruthless enough against his enemies (i.e. communist organizations who try to take him out, terrorist organizations who attempt to take power from him, etc.). These people are terrorists. Arafat has not taken action against them because he was himself a terrorist (some may debate that he still is) and probably still has quite a few friendships among these people that he doesn't want to risk losing.
However, if this is the case, he needs to stop running to the U.S. for help and look instead to his own people and the supporters he has in the Middle East. The U.S. is solidly behind Israel and Arafat is an idiot if he can't see that. Palestine must prove itself by standing on it's own two feet. If it can't do that, then Arafat must forget the friendships he once had with these terrorists and do his best to get rid of as many terrorists as possible. No more slaps on the wrist or revolving doors. Arafat is destroying himself and deserves what he gets.

I agree. The only exception would be if Israel or the U.S. steps in like it did in Vietnam and supports (through many means) someone who is more closely aligned with order and decency.
That really worked in Vietnam.
The people will get who the people want.

Sorry...second sentence was supposed to be sarcastic. Somehow, part got deleted.
