[history]
Allegations of bribery and attempts at extortion (public policy for money) are now coming out after years of efforts by Gray Davis to have them squashed.

I'd say that the odds are even money that the CA-GOP will run with Riordan and to the left of Davis. You must not be from California. The California GOP has little say in who our nominee is. The only "power" they may have is when they (meaning the highest ranking elected officials and party leaders) are strong enough personally to be able to prevent someone from running in the first place.
That hasn't happened here. And, because the voters in California are so removed from the political process, they'll listen to all the candidates and whoever has the best message, and the money to promote it, and can get the conservatives motivated and working the grassroots, will win.
We haven't had that in a long time. With Bill Simon I think we can. And I don't think that the Republican voters can stomach Riordan in the least. Especially when the realize he's to the left of Davis.

"Normal democrat behavior. He'll probably be re-elected." Yes, but normally the Sacramento Bee would not be going after a Democrat for this type of behavior. He has increasingly managed to piss them off. They are so angry that they have to realize by being so vigilant in this they are risking his re-election to a Republican next November. Although, they probably figure they can sell more papers reporting on investigations into Repub. politicians. (Notices saliva forming at corners of Sac. Bee's mouth)

Thanks for posting this article. By my post, I am bringing this to the attention of Phil Paleologos, to suggest that this subject should be discussed on "American Breakfast" tomorrow morning. As a long-time First Amendment attorney, I think the trial court was dead wrong, and the appeals court was spot on, in ordering these documents to be available to the press and therefore the public. Speaking of Grey-out Davis, this could not have happened to a more deserving guy, or at a more appropriate time.

If you all want to see something else that is very interesting, go over to fec.gov and run a search under Mark Nathanson. There's a whole lotta givin' goin' on by a guy with a similarly spelled name. If I had more time I'd check myself to see if this is the same guy with an American Museum Council problem, or just some poor dude with the same name. If anyone can check it out, please do.

Rex Heinke
A name familiar to FR.
To: StoneColdGOP
Are you sure he isn't actually Orenthal James Simpson?
Their stories are remarkably similar.
Engage in shameless criminal behavior.
Deny it.
Hire some people to exhaust everyone else with spin and blustering.
Win court victories.
Eventually have the truth catch up with you and pay the price.

You must not be from California. I was born, raised, and still live here. I've been watching the morons who run the Party out here for years. I've seen dog poo with more political sense than they possess.

The name of the politician was not printed but it was rumored to be Gray Davis. The BEE was given a copy with the name NOT redacted but had to keep silent since the court had sealed the name. They are now free to pursue getting another copy. How can Davis' staff deny it is his name knowing the the BEE has already seen the name????

You mean there are TWO Freepers in Elk Grove CA. We have got a monopoly here. As for Black Out Davis, I hope this is not swept under the rug like everything else he has done. Go Simon

I used to like Jones, but he lost me when he jumped ship from W to McCain, just as McCain started bashing the right during the primaries. I think Jones may be another Pete "conservatives are f-ing irrelevant" Wilson -- no thanks. GO BILL SIMON!!

The BEE was given a copy with the name NOT redacted but had to keep silent since the court had sealed the name. They are now free to pursue getting another copy. How can Davis' staff deny it is his name knowing the the BEE has already seen the name???? Because they are STUPID. The one way we have a shot of this story gaining legs is if the conservative press (National Review, the talk radio behomths, FOX News, etc...) run with the story and some of them launch their own investigations and prompt a more "lib" national outlet to 'bite.' Free Republic is the first place for this to happen.
Let's hope this story does not disappear. No wonder Gray is friends with Condit. They must practice their techniques together :(
To: StoneColdGOP
Nah...Gray's not colorful enough (and I don't mean skin, either).

Well let's see.
There is GREEN for money he extorts.
There is GRAY for the power outages he brings.
There is BLACK for the blackmail he has allegedly committed.
And there is PURPLE for the bruises he has caused former staffers he struck when being in an uncontrolled rage.
To: Impeach98
Don't forget RED because he's a bloody Communist!
To: Impeach98
Hmmm... if Gray's house becomes the target of a drug raid like OJ's, maybe we're really onto something.
The Calfornia governors mansion probably hasn't seen so much grass and snow since Moonbeam.
