There was a baby with Down's Syndrome who had been aborted

I'm opposed to abortion in all circumstances, but hearing the baby had Down's Syndrome, and the abortion had already occurred (what could the nurse do?) at least the baby didn't have to go through life disabled. If there's a bright side.

Sad that you think murder is the answer to disabilities. How about poverty? Should we murder the poor so atleast they won't have to suffer deprivation?

Down's Syndrome children aren't necessarily totally incapacitated, and no one has the right to deprive him of his chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as best as he can. Any one of us can end up brain-damaged and just as disabled. Does that mean a mother should be able to starve or asphyxiate a child that had a head injury?

So...a baby needs to be perfect to be loved and accepted?! Down Syndrome folks are the most loving of all individuals. You should be ashamed.

but hearing the baby had Down's Syndrome,

What is so bad about people with Down's Syndrome? Many of them have close to normal IQs, they tend to be happy people who ask for little. The best advice ever given to me was from a woman co-worker who had a daughter with Downs. She was telling me what a wonderful person she was, that she isn't very intelligent but she works and she is happy with her life. She told me that happiness is the best you can hope for your children to have ---retarded or intelligent --and that it is far better to have a happy but less intelligent child than one who is extremely intelligent but miserable with their lives. Often it's the very high IQ people who commit suicide.

I have a 57 year old Down's ""disabled" friend. He is the highlight of his family's lives -- and has friends up the kazoo. What are you thinking of? A disabled person isn't fully human? A disabled person can't lead a "quality of life" existence? My Down's disabled friend is a compassionate and loving man. Think before you write. Killing someone is not a solution to cure a disability.

My neighbor has a son with Down's Syndrome. I took him under my wing when he was about 10 years old. His parents are also very supportive. In the last eight years, he learned from me to play soccer fairly well. He has been my assistant coach on a number of recreational soccer teams. He is so proud of his Assistant Coach shirts and hats. He made his high school swim team. He learned to play a fair guitar, that Santa (me) left on his doorstep a few years ago. He still believes in Santa. He now works full time at Publix. Everyone that goes there knows him by his first name and always says, "Hi!". He knows he is different, but his life is hardly unfulfilled. He knows and loves Christ. I have four sons myself, but he has also been an important part of my life. A strange and mysterious gift, whose smallest accomplishments have been mountains climbed in my eyes.
