This is just an observation and a simple request. Feel free to disregard.

I have yet to see an article where we are discussing killing the Taliban that does not include a comment regarding the famous 72 virgins. As in "Boy I hope Allah doesn't run out of virgins" or "They better warm up the virgins now."

I don't know why this bothers me so much, but I am starting to notice it on EVERY SINGLE THREAD dealing with the Tallies. Sometimes half a dozen times or more. Can we call it off, and show some originality?

Sorry, the enemy must have a name, he must have a face. We have to know his weaknesses, we must brand him with a name. That name must be a joke, a cartoon, a "put down". There is a reason for this. It's easier to kill him! If you treat the enemy like "real people" you can't kill him. The enemy needs killing. If you do not kill that enemy, he will kill you. His weaknesses make him more vulnerable, and closer to death at my hands. If I can scare him, I can kill him.

What you don't know is that an American GI has so much respect for human life that he sometimes get shot in the back by the very people he just saved. You don't know how much we prepare for combat. Every pre-combat "briefing" will tell you the logistics of the operation. In Nam we were fighting so close to the enemy, and the civilians were a fishing line apart (2 pound test) we were hard to have separated them. The NVA and Cong knew this. So, they surrounded them selves with civilians. Cowards do this! Cowards deserve what they get.

These guys in Afganastan deserve our respect, and our support. This is not a great job, nor does it pay well. These guys are defending OUR country, they are seeking retrobution for lives, innocent lives, wasted!

I tried twice to re-enlist and go to Afganastan as a Ranger (101st Airborne).....I was too old (I'm 54). When they get down to the bottom of the barrel, I'll still be there, and ready to fight for my country.
