Well, I've read five hundred and eighty some odd replies. Looks like we're currently running about 580 to 3 in favor of keeping FR on the air. Now, mind you, I never had any intention of shutting this place down in the first place, just wanted to flush out some of the naysayers. Not many of the AFers showed up tonight, maybe we'll hear more from them tomorrow. I'd really like to see them publicly state their charges against me. If someone is ready to accuse me of fraud, then I say we should get it on.

Also, by the way, I did not mean to imply that FR is in trouble financially. The FReepers have always been there to cover our costs through donations. Thank you all very much. And thanks to all who have suggested alternative ways to raise money, but, I believe we will have to continue as we are until the lawsuit is resolved. We cannot sell subscriptions or advertising or be involved in any commercial transactions at this time.

Thank you all for your votes of confidence and supporting comments. Also, thanks very much for the donations. Didn't mean to jump the gun on BadJoe. This thread was not posted as a fundraiser. Was just trying to get all this so-called fraud stuff out in the open.

Regards,

Jim Robinson

Well, now I know you're the boss: why else would the "ALL" work for you and not for us? :-)

580-3 sounds about right... nobody is buying this 'fraud' business either.

Are you prohibited from selling t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, stuff like? Surely not, but certainly I wouldn't be the first to have thought of that.

That's because they are COWARDS, Jim . If you read the anti-FREEPER / anti-FreeRepublic threads, they vent unceasingly. When a few come back here, they either act like a bunch of Uriah Heaps, or curse you out. They haven't got they guts to do more. : - )

Thanks Jim.

Now, if only every one of us who gives the service a fair flogging would donate a Dollar per day -- and from the resulting cash flow; after you are paid a a salary comensurate with your creativity, inovation and prodigious efforts; we organize as a political force to be reckoned with -- what a force we will be!

if it is time for Free Republic to go away so be it.

Jim, there will never come such a time. Ever.

Free Republic isn't simply a gathering place for political conservatives, it has become so much more than that. This website is now a VERY POTENT FORCE to be recken with. No one knows this better than the powers-that-be.

If that were not the case, why on earth would Free Republic be making so many enemies among the establishment?

Free Republic is making the lives miserable, that's why. Both the politicians and the media know they can no long act with impunity.

We're watching them. Closely. And they know it.

As you, yourself, have said repeatedly: The media is today too corrupt, too liberal, too compromise, too "inside" to function any longer as a genuine check on government power, nor as a window on government corruption.

Free Republic has emerged to fill that all-important niche -- and will continue to do so, whether our enemies like it or not, Jim.

To your embittered critics, to those who have stooped to questioned your moral and ethical integrity, I have just four choice words for them: Get a life, already.

Not one of these hypocrits, who are burning with jealously at your roaring success, is fit to even tie your shoes.

Well, that's my two cents, Jim.

God bless you, and God bless Free Republic.

We cannot sell subscriptions or advertising or be involved in any commercial transactions at this time.

If there is ever a time in the future when you can or do move to commercial transactions, I'd also suggest an online FR store, selling FR t-shirts or polo shirts, FR baseball caps, FR coffee mugs, etc. People would buy that stuff, you would make money, and the site would continue to be promoted.

Well, maybe someday.

Jim,
The tension and hand-to-mouth that you have had to endure will this provisional judgement hangs over your head has been more than a lesser man could bear, IMHO. The dedication to keep it going during this time is nothing but admirable.

Once the sword that hangs over your head passes or falls, the knowledge that from that point forward the money will go to you and the site, will open up the contributions. Donations will always be limited, as they are now, by the thought that LAT/WP and their attorneys will grab the assets and equipment. When that sword passes or hits, and we can put you on solid footing with little and big contributions and donations...watchout world...FreeRepublic.com will really be on the map.

Keep faith in the worthyness of your creation and toil until then. We will stand by you during that bitter or happy time and then, even if shut down due to judgement...one e-mail to each will be the trigger to put make this whole if I am any judge of my fellows.
