Those smoking bullets will take a person out, but they are more slow than the real thing. A lingering death of lung cancer is a bad way to go.

My mom died from emphysema and was totally addicted to smoking. Near the end, walking around pulling a little portable oxygen tank, she said she'd rather smoke than breathe.

Funny, both my parents smoked like chimneys most of their lives and I've never smoked a day in my life except for a few of those "funny" cigarettes when I was trying to talk some girl out of her pants.

I'm not a big anti-smoking fanatic though, I don't like telling people what to do or how to live. I don't want people smoking on planes or next to me in a restaurant or in the movies, but that's about it. I hate self-righteous busy body fascists. Freedom is the most important thing in the world to me.

She HAS lung cancer already so where is the incentive to quit? The cancer isn't going away if she quits smoking. I have always heard that 'cancer cures smoking' but that is only in the final stages.

Just great. Now she will start a combined law suit against all states because she wanted to use a gun to end her life because she was dying of secondhand smoke caused by her smoking and rebreathing her own smoke, but she had a Brady waiting period and could not do it so she had to suffer.......or am I missing something.

If Sarah Brady were honestly trying to reduce deaths in America, she would leave guns alone and go after smokers - forming The Brady Campaign to Reduce Smoking Casualties or something.

That she does not indicates that she is a hypocrite. It also indicates she doesn't care about deaths themselves - and therefore that she is going after guns and gun owners for a different reason other than death rates.

This is sad news. Mrs. Brady has had a tragic life. Married to a brilliant man who had half his brain blown away. She remains loyal to her marriage vows. She stayed with him, a semi-invalid, through thick and through thin. She really and truly believes in the cause she advocates.

While I do not agree with her on gun control, I admire her for standing by her husband in good times and in bad, as the marriage vows proclaim.

I hope Sara gets excellent treatment for her cancer, and that the time she has left will be peaceful and serene.
