Ok, but can my tin foil cap save me from them too? Or does that only work for aliens?

can't agree with you more there! I love my Final Fantasy, Starcraft/Warcraft, Diablo (ok not too complex), Oni, and I'd die without Quake. But 2 kids sitting around playing Tekken all day, well it's a wonder they're asses don't take root if ya know what I mean!

Well, there's another organization's credibility down the drain....

NOT in the least! It gives it a far greater standing for having the courage to come forth and speak out on such a thing! If that is what it takes to kill credibility in your estimation, then you are setting your standards in the wrong place.

It has to grab your attention that he quotes goddless fiction in order to counter goddless fiction. I do so love irony.

Heh :)

Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore. Their parents have taken away their innocence, by desensitizing them to horrible and violent images.

I mean what kind of parent would want their kid to have images and visualize a servant cutting off his hand and his blood dripping all over, then throwing his hand in a kettle so that an evil spirit can posses a body. And then there are the lovely images of the little eleven-year-old girl being possessed by the same evil spirit and killing cats. Or what about the nice image of nearly headless Nick and his pals playing hockey with their heads.

Not only is Harry Potter filled with witchcraft and the hero and good guys can break the rules and get rewarded, the images are violent and disgusting.

If the Wiccan practices cited in Potter are not accurately portrayed I would think that they, the Wiccans, would be protesting

Actually, I have seen Wiccans on TV several times griping about how inaccurate the magic in the books/movie is, especially riding the broom backwards. Most wiccans I have known are also PETA types with rather thin skin. Fun to poke.

Ever play 'Traveller'? Machine guns and spaceships instead of swords and dragons. Still the work of satan, though.

"I have met thousands of children now, and not even one time has a child come up to me and said, 'Ms. Rowling, I'm so glad I've read these books because now I want to be a witch.' They see it for what it is," she emphasized. "It is a fantasy world and they understand that completely.

BS! I have a 9-yr old daughter who told me that the last time she played at her new friend's house, the little friend wanted her to play they were witches!!!

You are RIGHT, it is ONLY a dream world and fanatasy thing to them!! /sarcasm N O T !!

Here's a theory: maybe the Bible condemns witchcraft and sorcery because it does not work, and thus anyone who claims to be a practitioner is a fraud.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a passage in the New Testament ("By their fruits") that argues that good magic (i.e., healing) can be disdinguished from evil magic by the outcome.

By this standard, science has produced more good than all other belief systems and practices together.

Even if you add in the hundreds of millions killed in the name of "progress" by politicians.

One time, I wanted to play doctor at a girls house. For some reason her mom thought that was evil too.
Imagine that, a doctor being evil?

Did it all the time when I was a kid. And I'm older than Rowling. Guess it was all that "Great Pumpkin" influence that did me in.

Kid's have pretended to be witches and goblins and fairies and genies and cowboys and wizards and Superman and dinosaurs and teachers and preachers and policemen and ghosts and vampires and ballerinas and princesses and elves and gnomes and grownups for decades.

Wrong!!! My kids don't pretend to be witches, goblins or any of the such. Only good things do they pretend to be, because it is only good things that I like to be in their heads and hearts.

Just as the seemingly innocent Sabrina the Teenage Witch is followed by darker, teen-themed Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Actually, Buffy preceded Sabrina by many many years.

Sabrina has a micer butt, though.

Sabrina was from an old 'archie' comic wasn't she? that would put her before Buffy.

I didn't implicate your kids or even all kids. But unless you're with them 24/7 you can't really know for sure that they only pretend to be "good things."

After all Glinda was a good witch. Maybe they're pretending to be secret spy witches and would have to turn you into stone if you find out.

The point is kids pretend. It's a normal part of child's play.
