It seems to me that the world is somewhat out of order.
Terrorists all over the place.
SLAVERY in some countries (in the 21st century)!
In the early 20th century the British Empire ruled much of the world. They made ghastly mistakes, but overall they did well. They brought education, sanitation, and medicine to people who had none.
Todays world is much more complicated. But there is a need for someone to straighten this mess out.
The EU is not up to it. The Soviet Union is DEAD.
Who is left to take charge?
You tell me.
(BTW, I have my asbestos undies on. :)
I don't really want the job, but I think the US is the only one up to the task.
We can do it. It will hurt real bad.
Not doing it will hurt worse.
FReegards!
(that was extreme sarcasm)
Smart guy. I don't want the world anymore than you do.
I was speaking of nations, not individuals.
If I could be king of anything I would be a benevolent (and lazy) king of the county I live in. And most people would never notice me except for my taxes (1percent). :)
Watch out, someone might take that seriously.
But some of those losers overseas do.
we should be involved only when our self interests are involved. nation building does not work -- well okay it worked in germany. going into countries that are 500 years behind us socially and trying to democratize the people is a waste of time. it takes time for a group of warlords or fiefdoms to evolve to a democracy. we need to avoid these situations like the plague. (let the un fix afghanistan, or let afghanistan fix afghanistan. we should be focused on eliminating ubl and his network.)
OK. :)
Me.
