I guess I fall in the sabateur column on this one, but believe explosives started the mechanical failures. I also think it happened in NY to rub salt in wounds not healed yet. And that it crashed into Rockaway is simply chilling.
Whatever happened-this discussion has been remarkable. And it reflects what many of us hunger for when we drop into our FR world-top notch debate of issues and ideas. This thread is a TEN in my book!
Is that *your* purported theory on this one ... wise guy?
You know, the discipline of engineering and the use one's analytical abilities and training in the field of enginering in the post-analysis of a dissaster is beyond most people - and I suspect you fall into this category.
In the future - keep quiet unless you've got something substantive to say on as serious a subject as this.
IMHO, a shoe bomber detonated near the right wing. This small explosion caused a larger explosion of a fuel tank. Two explosions, fire, and smoke were witnessed by MULITPLE persons. I believe these explosions caused damage to the right wing which initiated the flat spin to the left. Debris from the wing and the resulting sidewards air pressure took off the tail. The engines at full power subsequently torqued from thier mounts.
