I was (and on occassion still am) an avid reader of the Bible (there's good stuff and helpful advice in the bible regardless of your faith, hence why I still read it). What made me curious enough to check occultist stuff was that I couldn't figure out what these people were talking about; I'd played all this D&D and listened to all this heavy metal and yet knew nothing about the occult had no urge to perform any kind of ritual or any of that silly crap. But here were these people that were sharing my faith saying this was the inevitable out come, so I felt like I must be missing something, so I started reading the real "bad" books (and letme tell you those books are bad, as in lame, LeVey's Satanic Bible is hands down the funniest thing I've ever read, and I'm pretty sure the humor was not on purpose; the whole occult section is either monotonous or stupid).

So then I found out that these people were full of it. That there was no occult stuff in D&D the only real satanism in heavy metal was in band so lame other bands made fun of them. In other words I found out I'd been lied to for the better part of 10 years by these people, people that were supposed to be authorities in my fiath, people that were supposed to be guiding me towards being a better Christian. Once I stopped believing some of them it was a pretty fast drive away from believing any of it. Now I hold no grudge againstthe faith, but I do hold a grudge against those that make a profession of telling people about the "hidden dangers" of their hobby and all the "terrible consequences" it will have on their souls. And I hold that grudge because I know for certain that if any of this is having a toll on people's souls it's these idjits that are alienating people from the faith that I once had.

I understand what you said, and correct me if I'm wrong... but it sounds to me like you let the words of a few Christians (that you felt were lies) drive you away from your faith altogether. Don't let some folks who you disagreed with turn you away from having a relationship with God, and learning His word.

(Sad but true) - sometimes Christians say things that might turn people off to Christianity.... Keep in mind that no one is perfect and good -- except for God! If you have doubts about the Bible, read the book, 'The Case for Christ' by Lee Strobel.

I hope you're still interested in seeking the truth, and I hope you come to accept Christ. John 14:6 sums it up!

ps- you'll be in my prayers!
