As part of the U.S.'s heavy bombardment against Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan, B-52s dropped at least one 500 lb bunker-buster in honor of the late heroine-author Barbara Olson, who was killed in Osama bin Laden's 9/11 kamikaze plane hijackings.
Fellow author and American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Michael Ledeen, who's also a close friend of Olson's husband, Solicitor General Ted Olson, told San Francisco radio host Melanie Morgan this week that the bomb, emblazoned with Olson's name on it, was dropped on Sunday.
Morgan shared news of the Pentagon's tribute to Barbara Olson with the Washington Times on Wednesday, saying, "(This is) the military's way of saying, 'We haven't forgotten you, Barbara.'"
In her book "The Final Days," Olson predicted that ex-President Clinton's pardons of Puerto Rican terrorist bombers in the U.S. would "send a signal" to other terrorists around the world, citing Osama bin Laden by name.
"As many of [Clinton's] cabinet had repeatedly stated, terrorism, both foreign and domestic, was the nation's primary security anxiety," Olson wrote. "Since the end of the Cold War, Soviet aggression had been replaced by a number of particularly venomous threats, from Timothy McVeigh to Osama bin Laden."

In her book "The Final Days," Olson predicted that ex-President Clinton's pardons of Puerto Rican terrorist bombers in the U.S. would "send a signal" to other terrorists around the world, citing Osama bin Laden by name. Not that any in the press or our govt. are too anxious to connect the dots.
Regarding the bomg: They did the same thing for the law firm, Sandler O'Neill ("Sandler O'Niell Remembers").

Now that quote sends a chill up my spine. Who would have figured Barbara Olson would get caught between the cross hairs of Osama Bin Laden's jihad in America? The U.S Air Force bomb with her name on it is a tribute to a great lady and a great American. The Talibunnies and Al Qaeda now know we are all business and won't stop til her death along with that of 6,000 of her fellow countrymen has been justly avenged. And there is more to come til the last one of them no longer walks the face of this earth...

So glad to hear that the DC Chapter is doing a Memorial for BKO. Do hope you will write a report with pictures....
I happen to hear Ted Olson on Rush this week. He's a remarkable man. What a tragic loss. He talked about the many thousands of letters & cards he received from those who loved & admired Barbara and how they have been a comfort to him. I'm sure many came from FReepers.

I think Barbara might have liked this sentiment. Pretty neat. Certainly it is meaningful to Ted. Gosh-I miss Barbara right now-she would have been spectacular with her commentary. Especially on the filhty clinton speechs made at Georgetown and Harvard, and hitlery's horrendous mocking of President Bush's first formal address congress and to the nation regarding just what we were going to do regarding Sept 11th. I miss Barbara. I cannot WAIT to read her book!

Cool.
A 500 lb "bunker buster" wasn't dropped for show.
That bad boy wasted a lot of scum, bank on it.
Perhaps bin Laden himself.

Regarding the bomg: They did the same thing for the law firm, Sandler O'Neill ("Sandler O'Niell Remembers").You know, I think it would be a great idea to drop a 500 lb "bunker buster" for each known individual victim.
Put one name on each bomb and "bombs away"!!!
To: JeanS
When we finally get a fix on Osama, we should send Ted Olson over there to personally drop the Daisy Cutter on his head.
