Lifetime TV: Television for Women (who like watching indoctrinating crap)
Just a few observations about Lifetime TV

Greetings friends, freepers, and right minded thinkers:
Since moving to the West Coast, I have had the distinct pleasure of having access to TV much more than in previous years. This is thanks to my roomate.
Unfortunately, however I seem to be somewhat dismayed at the content of some channels. Make no mistake, The History Channel feeds my love for the culture of ancient Egypt on a daily basis, and some of what gets presented with regards to US history finds its way to my classroom each and every day.
Lifetime, is another matter entirely. It seems every day this channel is presenting material programmed toward the ridicule, criticism, and outright demonization of the male and corporate culture, either simultaneously in some programs, or consecutively in others. A corucopia of "based on true" stories depicting the ugly side of masculinity, corporate abuse, and feminine victimhood seems to fill the roster of programming of this channel on a daily basis. This happens with a frequency and intensity too pronounced to be simply shrugged off or ignored. I am of the opinion that when presented with such distortions and generalizations on a regular basis, even the most steadfast among us may begin to be affected by such garbage.

It isn't just Lifetime, but their whole feminist network of channels, Oxygen, We, LMN - we keep ours tuned to FOXNews, sports, HGTV, FoodTV, DIY, History, Discover, and sometimes TLC.

Wanna bet that when Oprah finally quits her show, she syndicates her re-runs on this channel?

Lifetime and the assorted "womyn's TV" type stations are laughable -- inevitably, every man in their made for TV movies is either a wifebeater or a sympathetic homo.
It's interesting to note, though, that 3/4 of the advertising is for makeup and hair coloring...

Good observation.

I remember once, when I was channel surfing, coming across a bio of the Kennedy's on Lifetime and near the end, the narrator said that the Kennedy legacy had come full circle with the election of the Clintons. This was before the Monica mess.

If I ever catch my wife or my mistress watching this channel, I'll beat 'em to a bloody pulp!!

My wife will watch it from time to time, and you never see a movie where the woman ever does anything coniving or evil to her boyfriend or husband.Always the victim. It's like they're saying"Women good, men bad".

I call it women's victim's television. When my wife was pregnant with our first child she was put on bed rest. I had to forbid her from watching lifetime. All they showed were movies that jacked up her blood pressure. She definitely did not need that.

I get sick of all the lisping on HGTV.

Simply put...Lifetime is a channel to divide the family...daddy beats wife, daddy beats kids, daddy leaves wife and kids, daddies suck. I think lifetime is worthless NOW tripe.

Notice, none of the Women In Peril(tm) EVER reach for a gun to defend themselves. Well, maybe some, but they usually call somebody else for help. Oh, and what happened is NEVER their fault. I'm so glad Mrs. Cut loathes that channel as much as I do. Blessed as I am, she LOVES Food Network, though.

You think the programs are bad, what about the commercials? If you notice every time there is a MAN AND A WOMAN, on a commercial, the man is portrayed as a lazy slob, the big kid, worthless, a lyre, never knows the right product to buy (he usually uses product x,you know, the wrong one), and every other sexist stereo type you can imagine. On the other hand, women are impeccably dressed in business atire, knows the right product to use (the product of the sponser, not the one the stupid man is using. She always sets him streight),and just an all round supper duper soccer mom who does everything. And this goes for all stations.

I turned off the TV 5 years ago. It gives me more time to think about my posts. I never write dull vanities about what's on TV anymore which is a big plus.
