FDA unleashes new threat to human babies
"In the midst of a terror campaign and a frightening battle against anthrax, the FDA has somehow been able to find the time to sanction yet another form of baby killing," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "The newly-approved birth control patch uses the same abortion-causing chemicals used in many other so-called contraceptives."
With its approval of the birth control patch, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has now approved its fourth new "contraceptive" option in the last year. The skin patch has been added to a collection that already includes a monthly injection, a hormone-emitting IUD, and a hormone-emitting contraceptive ring.
"All these devices deliver the same hormones to the woman's body and all work in the same manner," said Mrs. Brown. "They all affect the uterine lining and prevent implantation of a newly-conceived human being, thus causing the end of that human being's life."
"The FDA should be ashamed of itself," said Mrs. Brown. "All Americans should reject this new form of baby killing and seek to protect all innocent human life, from fertilization to natural death."

It is something like the probablity of winning the lottery. Each time they call a number that matches yours, your potential to win increases. You do not win until they call that last number. Up until that last matching number is called you have nothing. After it is called you have everything. If you walk away after the first number is called, you have not lost a lot of potential. If you walk away just before the last matching number is called, you are losing a lot of potential.
It is the same with the fetus. The closer you come to the moment of birth the higher the potential and less you will want to abandon that potential.
I am not sure what a partial birth abortion is, but I will say this. If I had to terminate a fetus moments before it was to be born in order to save the mother's life, I would. The mother is living human with soul. The almost birthed baby is still only a potential human.
I hope this satisfies your morbid curiousities.
Point definitely taken - like you explain, abortifacients are akin to signing a contract saying you will practice infanticide, or passing a law demanding all who can't get to grips with algebra will be 'terminated' - it is immoral at any stage of life even if it is predetermined. Glaringly obvious - guess I owe you a bigger thanks for taking the time to answer something I should have answered myself.
I still see a few little grey lines around the area of implantation. I'm going to have to have a good look at that info about the pill - I have to agree that it needs a warning - I certainly had no idea it wasn't strictly a contraceptive until recently. I'm wondering too what would happen if it were shown that implantation was significantly less likely during a known time in the menstrual cycle - and what impact a knowledge of natural this randomness could have. But then I really should shut-up for now eh? :).
Cheers again.

The only one seeking to quench a morbid thirst is you.
You don't sound pedantic, but you do sound ignorant. Do you know how many children are born with breathing problems? Once you make breathing independently the criteria for new life, you have given insurance companies the ability to deprive medical treatment to many infants born with correctible problems.
You may also want to consider how many elderly people also have problems breathing. Your definition would open the door to condsidering them unworthy of medical treatment.
Hmmm...the anti Christian rhetoric you've spewed on Free Republic is in direct contrast to this statement.
So, in your belief system of anything is right if it's what we truly believe? Relativism...isn't that a belief system of the Unitarian Church? You are your own god (small 'g' definitely) and can believe or change beliefs as you see fit. What a scattered belief system. God (capital 'G' definitely) is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I'll take the true and living God over the chaos god anyday.
Thank goodnes for modern medical tehcnology.
There was at time, less than 50 years ago, when Catholics were killing mothers to save babies.
Over the years I have come to believe that some of the so called pro-life faction have morbid fascination this sort of gore. The prima facia evidence is overwhelming.
I have never talked about this subject on the internet before FR. Do you really believe that I am alone in this world with my opinons?
Think about people who die (stop breathing) when put on a heart lung machine during an operation. At the end of the operation, the doctor restarts the heart, the patient starts breathing again and is once again a living human. A modern miracle that puts the Chirst's fabled miracles to shame.
