This is a great article...the author has alot figured out that escapes what he so aptly calls 'the armchair generals'.
In Britian and in the States, most of them have made colossal asses of themselves in the last few weeks.
It is a joy to behold!!

so many armchair generals been exposed as such idiots in such a short period of time
Also made the talk show hosts appear pretty idiotic too, as they nodded in agreement with the armchair generals.
Quag-what?

Bush Is Dumb, Right??? He must be. CNN said so. And Al Gore is a super genius intellectual (that failed out of divinity school and never got a degree beyond a bachelor's).
To: MAKnight
They've got Bill Clinton, a RAPIST. We've got George W. Bush, a REAL MAN with scruples and a brain. For victory & freedom!!!
To: MAKnight
I guess all those dumb comedy shows that depict GWB as a moron will have to change strategy, right? For victory & freedom!!!

I hope some of the little anti-Bush twits that my daughter goes to school with in London will read this. Nah, probably not.

Good article. Now, if they can kill Bin Laden within the next two weeks, it would be a slam-dunk! GW would go down in history as Great Leader.

What school does your daughter attend, just curious as my children also attended school in London. Small world huh?

Bush is not the first president to present this kind of self-effacing image. Eisenhower also beguiled his adversaries by pretending to not be as smart as he really was. He was also a delegator, like Bush. And he was a much more effective president than commonly credited.
Has anyone ever asked Bush about this similarity, and whether he is conciously modelling himself after Ike?

My daughter attends the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Yes very small. What about yours? ;9)

Ike was the greatest military mind of this century, and maybe longer. Of course the British PM at the time thought he was vapid and incapable of "higher thinking." As the French say, the more things change . . .

This article leaves out one of Bushes most trusted advisors. (Condi). Maybe ol Andrew didnt want to give a female that much credit.

My kids both attended high school in London when we were living there. That was a couple of years ago. What an adventure for your daughter, and it must be quite a feather in her cap to be attending. Ah to be young again and be able to do such things.

A fourth cliche is that Bush got essentially everything he has (including the Oval Office) the old fashioned way, by getting it from his father. Bush himself corrected this misconception on Oprah. The biggest misconception about him was that if his father "had been George Jones, [George W.] would have been a country singer."
George W. actually is his own man and owes nothing of his success to his father. He is truly the best his party has to offer.
