HOWDY FREEPERS
This will be my final freeper observation for the week as I have guests arriving for the holiday. I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
Today I will put into perspective the ongoing hard feelings which continue to exist between news organizations and the consumers of their products. I think it's pretty obvious these East Coast news organizations do not seem too eager to change their ways.
This past weekend, one of the Network news anchors, Peter Jennings arrived in Dallas to do a town hall meeting on Sunday night. Needless to say it turned out to be a hard reality check for him. A lot of the responses from the crowd were very much against him and the media. In fact, right before the event took place, he stopped off at Texas Stadium druing the Dallas Cowboys game to get some reaction about the ongoing events. One of those he stopped to interview repsonded when asked about the media: "Nobody likes you."
AND YOU KNOW WHAT FOLKS, HE'S RIGHT!!!
Nobody likes Peter Jennings. In fact nobody likes the big three networks and CNN.
Now there was another thread on this subject in which a Texas freeper who now lives in California expressed shock at how the man acted during this interview. WBAP's Mark davis even chided the guy for being so terse and set he could have been a little more gentlemanly but folks, Texas hospitality and Oklahoma's for that matter only goes so far.
And I must tell you that I've heard nothing but positive reviews for President Bush when he was govenor down there and these people are rather sensitive about how their own are portrayed.
And I know there are some of you who are big fans of CNN and the big three but folks, let's face it. people are wising up to the liberal bias in these and are turning away in droves.
And you wonder why Steve E.D. & Brian are beating the heck out of Paula Zahn in the morning ratings race.
Now I live here in the Wichita Falls TX-Lawton OK T.V. Market. The lone Oklahoma station in the market is the ABC T.V. affiliate, KSWO-TV 7. The L.A. Times did a story on that station recently in which the executive news director said that the vast majority of people in this region are conservative and baptist. And she is right. This region of North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma is very conservative. How do I know? Because I'm a lifelong resident of this region.
The moral of this story is that the values here in this part of the country where I'm from are a lot different than the values of the East Coast. And it's just something that Peter Jennings and people like him are going to have to realize and get used to. Not everyone, certainly not every part of the country shares the values of the East Coast crowd.
That's for sure! -
And it's a good thing that we don't!
She is plain loco!!
If it weren't for people like you on FR, I'd not even know he exists. He is irrelevant to my life. Except for football, we never watch the 3 big networks.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.Reagrds.
Take note and reflect back on the election map. Conservative values continue to prevail amongst most Americans who live in suburbia. As noted on that map, the largest number of liberal voters is concentrated in the large metropolises. Here in NY state, the same is true. East coast/west coast, there is little difference.
I don't even watch football anymore. I cannot endure the commercials.
Some weeks ago I realized that I'd finally and totally checked out of American popular culture.
Mee too. I haven't watched a football game since the strike of '82. Living in the peoples republik of minnesota, I've saved myself from a lot of anguish.
