Two teenagers have been arrested for trying to blow up a 7-month-old kitten on July 3, the Citrus Heights police said Tuesday.

The teenagers, who were not identified, were booked on felony counts of exploding a destructive device and cruelty to animals.

I think that an adult raccoon has a higher capacity for feeling pain than a three week old fetus only because a three week old fetus does not yet have a central nervous system. But, you are right, that does not mean that we have no moral obligation to the fetus. Once again, we can care about both, and for different reasons.

Hey, I didn't make that up... REALLY ! It was a scientic study . It isn't even something I care abaout. I eat meat, I wear leather, fur, and even alligator and ostrich. Go ahead and cringe, if you must.

Now, I want you to go look into a mirror, open your mouth, and stare at your teeth. See how some are groved and some are pointy ? That's because man ws designed to eat both flesh and veggitation. It is the grand design and why do you think that you are better at knowing what people should eat, than the attributes GOD ( or whatever you think was responsible ) conferred upon HIS creation ?

Can you please define physical pain? Nervous system is a network that communicates changes in the environment to the brain, which reacts in ways to effectively help the organism survive. I am sure the plants also have ways to effectively react to external stimulus. They react to sunlight and water to survive. I am having a tough time to draw a clear distinction between the plants and the animals. Would apprecaite help here. Thanks.

I'm not trying to jump into this discussion between you two and take sides, but I just wanted to point out that he never said humans shouldn't eat animals... all he is saying is that IF you are concerned over an innocent cat getting hurt, tortured, etc.,... you should also be concerned with the many cows, pigs, etc. that are being abused in some way in meat factories across the country.

I have no idea on just how rampant this may be... but I just wanted to clarify what I think his statement was.

The people who scream about not wearing fur, use the same excuse. The thing is, that fur farms would not make much, if any money, IF they abused and maltreated their animals. The pelts would be almost worthless.

I am NOT going to go into a long diatribe ; however, if people knew how animals were raised and butchered , previous to this time, they wouldn't carry on so about what is done today.

It wasnt just one person. The studies were done in the 1930's, I think and they hooked plants up to something, and when they were cut or pulled out, there was a " scream " registered on the equopment. I know that it sounds " nutty " but I have yet to see that it's been disproved.

No, I have not. I returned to this thread this morning only to respond to the people who had written me. I have tried to be polite and respectful. I have called no one names, and I have not been mean to you.

Just because someone doesn't know what is going on does not mean that it isn't happening. What if someone said what you said about factory farms but about the abortion industry? Would they not be wrong?

By the way, the pelts are not worthless because the mink are killed by anal eloctrocution. That's how they insure that no blood damages the fur.

Even when he is at his worst, my cat is my baby, and I would kill any SOB that tried to harm him.

I have a little cat I rescued as a kitten about 16 years ago that may have saved my life twice in the last 3-4 years. I now sometimes choke in my sleep if I lay on my back. I woke up choking a few years back,and the only thing that saved me was when I blacked-out,I fell on the hard lineloum floor and that knocked the "slug" loose in my throat. When I came to,she was sitting in front of my face looking at me. I damn near had the same thing happen about 2 nights later,except I didn't black out that time. I just jumped to my feet and made loud wheezing noises as I tried to breath past the blockage.

Here is where the cat comes in. She was probably 12 years old then,and had never slept with or near me in her life. She doesn't purr,and she doesn't even like to be petted or picked up. She started sleeping near me right after the second incident,and every time I wake up I can see her laying around close,watching me. There have been two incidents where I woke up because she had jumped onto my bare chest with her claws out.Both times I was just starting to choke.

Hurting this cat would be a VERY bad idea. Sooner or later,I'd get you.

I was just pointing out that such behavior is rampant at the factory farms that produce the dead carcasses that you eat.

You need to take your head in for it's 50,000 miles checkup. Not only is is seriously out of balance,but I suspect it's a quart low,too.
