Here's another obscure one: "California Eathquake", by Mama Cass (1968). Well, it IS about California falling into the sea, which strikes me as being mostly bad for liberals rather than Conservatives - my apologies to our CA freepers :-)

"Rock and Roll, ain't noise pollution"

The one with the pipes is "It's a long way to the top". It's about 'paying your dues', which is what most musicians have to do. AC/DC started out as a bar band. They don't write many political songs.

" All this talk about Oingo Boingo has really piqued my interest. How's the music?"

Very high energy, multi-rhythmic, 80'ish sound in the keyboards but with more of an edge. They have a variety of instruments including a horn section and often an xylophone. Elfman has very dynamic voice and a wide range. I'd suggest one of their best of's. The only one I don't have came out just last year, I hear good things about it.

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

{Refrain}
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the party on the left
Is now the party on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

---------

Strikes me as a critique of the left.

The Who are all over the map, and Townshend is a socialist, but don't read too much into his writing for political messages. He's confused himself.

Hah! I used to crank it up whilst I cleaned the berthing compartment onboard one of Uncle Sam's big gray canoes. Really messed with their heads. My other favorite bands while onboard were the Ramones, Tuff Darts, and their ilk. It kept me sane for the 12 years of my indenture.

you got me there. actually, i'm in mormon country, and i grew up with the battle hymn
sung by the mormon tabernacle choir. didn't relate to it being union. (blush)

i hadn't heard of Bonnie Blue Flag. guess the mason dixon doesn't streach this far west.
great lyrics. thanks.

I don't know anything about country. I just know some on classic rock. That's my area.

Actually, wouldn't 'Eminence Front' be a good candidate?

Don't know that one offhand.

"Battle Hymn of the Republic" and for those who have been through Airborne School, you might recall The Airborne Song sung to the same tune.

connectthedots, "Cherry Jumper"
