I just received a call from the producer of The Hannity and Colmes asking me to appear at 9:45 EST concerning The Mayor's Race in Houston Texas as covered on Sean Hannity's Radio Show today and the attempt by local Democrats to use James Byrd's Daughter as a weapon in playing the race card against The Hispanic Republican Candidate. I need a update from some of my Freepers in Texas about both candidate's maybe a picture I am trying to remember if Brown is blacks or not.

Anywhere he has been, New York, Atlanta or Houston he has been known as " Outa Town Brown." He is always off on some fact finding junket, like the Clintons. City services here in Houston have suffered under his administration and we are looking forward to electing a conservative to office. That would be Orlando Sanchez who was endorsed by George Bush Sr. today.

I'll be watching you, and expecting your usual good appearance. I'll never understand why intelligent people believe they have to stay with the Dems. Oh, would you pinch Colmes for me--real hard!! ;-)

Lee Brown has a record as Mayor of Houston that he is not proud of or he wouldn't have to be using the daughter of James Byrd, Jr. They drag out one of Byrd's relatives evreytime they need to smear any Republican. I doubt Byrd's daughter even knows what she's talking about and I'm sure she's getting paid to say it.

James Byrd, Jr., had nothing to do with Houston, TX.

I thought I had heard that the former first lady had already endorsed him. the Bush name, needless to say, carries alot of weight here in texas and especially houston, where the former president resides.

Browne is black. When Dinkens was mayor of N.Y.C., and the riots got out of hand ( blacks went on a three day rampage, when a Hassidic Jew's car went out of control, and accidently hit a small black child , the usual suspects were bused in, and Yankel Rossenbloom was murdered in retaliation, as were other Jews singled out and beat up ) , and Browne, the then Head of the N.Y.P.D. was out of town. He was known as " OUT OF TOWN BROWNE " , because he was NEVER there and did NOTHING at all to protect any of the citizenry of N.Y. !

The police were NOT even called out , for almost a day, when the riots broke out. It has been alledged that the police had been told to take a " hands's off " position, and to NOT arrest any of the unrully mob . Yes, it WAS a case of " RACE CRIME " , with blacks beating up / killing Hassidic Jews ! They even went after an old Italian man, calling him a JEW ; thinking that he was one.

Mayor Brown is the classical incompetent bureaucrat with the tax and spent liberal syndrome. While he was chief of police during the Kathy Whitmire administration, crime in Houston skyrocketed, the city of Houston was a wild-west lawless city during his tenure as chief law enforcer.

His record is of permament failure, he was run out as the Police Chief of New York, to later become a do nothing Drug Zar under the Clinton Administration.

During the administration of Mayor Lanier crime went under control and the city enjoyed a business rebirth, it was a peaceful and prosperous interlude that was disrupted again after Mr. Brown was elected Mayor of Houston. Under Mayor Brown crime has skyrocketed again in Houston, and the fire department has deteriorated to such an extreme that Houston might not be able to deal with a citywide emergency.

The Police and Fire departments were neglected under Mayor Brown who mismanaged the city, hiring thousands of new do-nothing bureaucrats while giving his cronies juicy contracts for new sport arenas built with taxpayers monies in what constituted huge pork money barrels for the multi-billionaire owners of sport franchises. Another one of Brown’s “Tea Pot” scandals is the “Toy Train” project in which more than 450 million dollars of the taxpayers hard earned moneys being thrown down the drain. One city department went from 40 employees and 30 million dollars budget to 400 employees and 45 million budget. It is absolutely scandalous Brown's mismanegement of the city's finances.

Meanwhile, the small businesses are being taxed to death and the Black and Mexican wards are being abandoned to the status of third world slums.

Orlando Sanchez, grown and educated in Houston, has a great record as a fiscal responsible councilman and he has as one of his first priorities bringing the Police and the Fire Department to the status that corresponds to the fourth most populous city of the U.S., the Space City with one of the best medical centers in the world and a multicultural and multiethnic growing population.

Sanchez, a true free enterprise conservative, also wants to make Houston more hospitable to new inversions, a haven for entrepreneurs. Jobs must come with new businesses and enterprises not through city’s handouts to friends and special interest groups. His goal is to restitute a safe environment in which a thriven economic force will bring forward the greatness this city deserves.

You know, I hate to say this, but even though I don't like Colmes' politics, he does come across as a sort of likeable guy. Unlike Bill Press, for example.

I believe the Crown Heights riots were during Brown's time. They didn't send in the police for the better part of three days while the blacks rioted. They were sued over that, but the courts ruled once again that the police do not HAVE to show up when called.
