Would you like to be instantly notified whenever someone flags you responds to one of your posts?

Would you like to be instantly notified when you get FReepmail? Well look no further than this!

http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/notify?detach=1

Just click on that, and one should pop up.

Save this URL as a bookmark (in your Internet Explorer) named "Free Republic," and you should be able to start up the "pager" window every time you log on to FR.

JohnRob created this (I think) in order to save system resources, with this "pager" you don't need to use the full "self-search" feature anymore.

does it automatically "clear" itself once you've read the posts? what if you don't read them all?

you can always hit the self-search button to find the ones you missed.

You should open the links into a new window, don't close the self-search that pops up until you're done reading everything on it.

If you want to automatically always open things into a new window when you click on the link, go here and change "Windows" to "Blank" (at the bottom of the page)

How does that chime thing work? It's the same sound I have for my OE.

Well, I didn't see or hear anything when you replied to my post, and didn't even have pop-ups blocked at the time.

Could you possibly walk me through the "save the URL as a bookmark (in Internet Explorer)" thingy? I don't have a clue how to do that.

It's actually not instantaneous, it can take a few seconds.

If you are using Internet Explorer, they're actually not called "bookmarks," they're called "favorites."

First, click on the link I gave you. Second, from the big page that says "If you have JavaScript enabled" click on "favorites," then "add to favorites," and then change the name to "Free Republic" and then hit "OK"

Works like a charm! Even plays a nice little sound, but wouldn't it be nice if it burst into the national anthem? Is there a way to change the sound to "Ohhhh say can you SEEEE!"??
