What has happened to Free Republic

Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

I could respond if you'd state your position more succintly. But, here goes anyway. You say that drug use is not harmful. You've obviously never seen a family destroyed by heroin or cocaine or crack or prolonged use of marajuana. Of the millions in prison today the overwhelming majority of them are there because of drug involvement of some kind. On average, it costs 40k a year for these " good citizens." You parse your argument by making a difference between drug use and drug abuse. So what your saying is one can use heroin or crack without abusing it? Millions of people in this country use alcohol responsibly every day. I dont know of anyone who responsibly uses heroin, cocaine, crack or methamphetamine. Your argument is full of shit and so are you.

You're hallucinating again ... where did I even remotely suggest you're flying into buildings. :)You suggested that many of us are like the Taliban. Back in #197, remember?

Re post #88: The Liberals who are not fools are scoudrels who manipulate the fools. They are interested in intentions. They are too shallow and foolish to be interested in results.

Ther is so much of their liberal crap on the DU they have to come to the FR to see the real deal. I also got an e-mail from a guy who upset with my non-pc attitude. Look at it this way we ticked them off, I say good job.

Cry-Baby....go find a forum that will pat you on the butt and make you 'feel all better'. You whiners make me sick. When FF578 says that he does not want his opponents to resort to name-calling, he does not act like a cry-baby. Rather, he acts like a person with a normal and healthy self-respect and dignity. It is very sad that not only you cannot accord basic repsect to your fellow human being --- you cannot even recognize dignity for what it is.
If you have something to say, you do not have to shout. And if you want to learn, you do not tell people to "go find [another] forum," --- you welcome them to contribute instead.

Just out of curiosity: Why is it that when female voters tend to vote Democratic the Republicans have a "gender gap problem," but when male voters tend to vote Republican (overwhelmingly, in the case of white males) nobody seems to think the Democrats have the same problem? Because nobody cares about the Democrat's problems.

I should have worded what i said as "Drug use is no more harmful than downin' a few shots of Taaka or smoking cigarettes".
My opinion on it is that its a medical problem. Very similar to the problem I have with these Marlboro Lights. I do not advocate it, in fact I strongly advise against it. But not really in favor of kicking a rapist out of jail to make room for someone with this medical problem.
Also, Taaka and Marlboro Lights didn't make me sit in a walk-in closet all day eating cheetos watching Chevy Chase movies and worrying about whether I should answer the knocking on my door whereas marijuana did. So the comparison isn't quite exactly the same.

Forget about the newbies and libs, the "post police" are what bothers me now. Censors run the "Free" republic roughshod. They don't even seem to read the context....if there's a banned keyword, your post is toast.
Cest la vie.

You didn't answer my question about how GW marginalized the Religious Right during the convention. He called for prayer then and now ... but he wanted Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell OUT of view. And thankfully they have stayed that way ... except when they put their foot in their mouth.

Re #16: That is priceless. I emailed it to my family & said, "Well, guys, after months of not answering the phone, I came across something important today..."
thanks for posting it! :)

<< Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be. >> Liberals and libertarians are not the same. Some libertarians call themselves "classical liberals," but this is very different from the modern definition of liberal. I'd estimate that the average libertarian is approximately 75% "conservative" 25% "liberal." Of course, if you happen to be a hardcore Christian who thinks issues like abortion are very important, you won't like libertarians any better than liberals. You might also object to our (may as well admit I'm one of `em) anti-interventionist views, but that is also shared by many on the far right, another significant minority on FreeRepublic.

Thanks for the link. I was pretty disgusted to see the way Michael Pierce's work was attacked here. To me, if any writer embodies the term "conservative", it's Mike.
For some here, George Will is the height of conservative thought.

You suggested that many of us are like the Taliban. Back in #197, remember? And I told you the context ... the adage "never get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man" surely sits in regards to arguing with you.
To: Savage Beast
I can appreciate your sentiments but they do not conform to American jurisprudence as practiced lo these many decades. When women advanced their 'right' to kill the separate but equal individual within their womb they began the distruction of this nation. From this selfishness of yours, unfounded in anything other than your own ego-mania, flows the entire panoply of the Libertarian myth-structure. It will destroy us all.

I just don't see the value in a forum that allows only one type of thought. . . . It is of great value to confront opposing views and either defeat the view with fact and logic, or agree to investigate the view more thoroughly due to an inability to refute the fact and logic of the view. . . . Of course you get a lot of "I'm right/you're wrong"s with no fact or logic behind them . . . What I like about FR is that I can persuade and be persuaded through debate. . . . I loathe those name callers though- the diminish the value of FR. . . . . . . Maybe DU has a cyber-al qaeda after us?! I agree with all your points, especially those above. Homogenity is boring. But name-calling and arguing just to argue, however, is more than irritating and useless.
To: NYpeanut
... I will have to post my link to Venn diagrams and deductive logic and point out your lack of education on this area ... Gee, that's a really sporting comment.
FYI: The easiest way to tell a liberal from a conservative is by her bad manners.

BRAVO!

Ther is so much of their liberal crap on the DU they have to come to the FR to see the real deal. The only thing funnier than a guy who's been here for a week griping about "the way things used to be", is a guy who's been here for 2 weeks giving him advice about it.
