What has happened to Free Republic

Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out. Well, I'm a newbie but don't consider myself a disrupter. And since I am new, I can't comment on what it was like previously. I will comment, however, on the fact that there are quite a few "liberal" opinions here which sound more like the democRat stance than what I would call the traditional Republican platform (I'm only a newbie here, not in the political/civic involvement forum). And I can agree with you, studies have shown women do vote more on the liberal side than men. And more single parent women are democRats, as well (I fit in the former, not latter category). That's my .02 worth.

EVERYONE agrees that killing a 6 year old child is murder- that's why it's so clear cut and the corresponding laws passed- we ALL agree on this issue.
However, NOT everyone agrees that killing an unborn child is murder. You won't find any argument from me on that- or on this entire forum (from my experience)- but that's not the issue. At issue is the fact that there are enough people who believe killing an unborn child is not murder that laws have not been passed.
So you're not in adequate majority to call the shots.
In debating a "pro-choice" person, keep in mind the fundamental difference most of us have with them- if you say,"it's murder" you've gone nowhere in persuading them against abortion. You may feel like saying it over and over thinking it will change them- but it will change them no more than they could change you by screaming the opposite.
You must take alternate approaches in this debate (at least on this forum and most that are W.A.S.).

You're a whiner.

Honey, We're NOT a monolitical group. Get used to it. And we're not all Christians, anti-abortion, AntiGay,WASP, Right Wing. We are EVERYTHING to the right of the Leftists.
Get used to it.
We need the variety or else we'd just be talking to ourselves. BTW, I lean toward your side of the spectrum.

Ditto.
Even a fairly prosaic topic like the "Harry Potter" threads were filled with anti-Christian, foul-mouthed, vitriolic name-calling. For every parent who thought the Potter missives might be a bit creepy for their seven-year-olds, there were a dozen flamers who dismissed parents as "religious nut cases."
One wiccan even said (twice; in bold) that I was "worse than the Taliban" because of my dislike for the young wizard.
Where are the old posters of yester-year? Where's Metalbird1? Where's Boyd?

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)
Some of my best friends were Appalachian Snake Handlers.

Abortion may not be right, but it is a right. The bottom line is this -- do we want the government to have to sanction our living or our death? Or do we decide to have freedom of choice and decision regarding our lives and our bodies. My answer to the abortion questuion is this - Intelligent moral individuals do not choose abortion unless in extremis - but I do not take away freedom to ensure that everyone lives by my own moral code .. what happens on the day big brother decides it is YOUR morals and beliefs that are wrong - what do you say then?

Congratulations on trolling FR for crazyfish. I would say you hooked a ton of them based on the nonsense flying around.

Amazing how some think we should all walk lockstep together, eh?

Look at the numbers. How many people belonged here in the time frame you are talking about back in 2000? How many people belong now. I agree the site is evening itself out in terms of political views. But you need to ask yourself:
Is this a bad thing?
Is it hindering any true conservatives from getting their message out?
I think the answer to both is no. This is still overwhelmingly a right wing site. And this lefties who are not persuaded by the eloquence of our arguments will surely lose interest in this site sooner or later.

You must not have read my whole post. Our founding fathers were slave owners, believed women should be seen and not heard, wouldn't let them vote and most of them smoked hemp.So tell me about our founding fathers and their intent.

For every parent who thought the Potter missives might be a bit creepy for their seven-year-olds,
I don't think that was the problem. The problem was the parents who thought Potter might be a bit creepy for MY seven year old. That's where the Taliban comments are appropriate.

Bump for later laughter.

Quite a few, dear , and some perminently. Others have been suspended for a few days and / or a week or so. Unlike the fringers, they don't post threads cursing Jim out, asking friends to post long tirades , and do NOT post their own threads whinging about it.
