Perhaps no standing army, but within 5 years, there would be a standing bureaucracy of several thousand standing political appointees, most with uniforms out of _The Student Prince_. All the many generals would come from countries where the appointments were evenly distributed. The nation of Tuvalu would have a senior genral (if he or his constituents could afford the necessary bribes) on standby in the event a crisis arose requiring the formation of a response group. Action in the field would, of course, have to be agreed upon by the various levels of command conferences. Just imagine the medals committee. These leeches would give each other medals and ribbons for having to walk from 42nd street, past the Ford Foundation, to go to a cocktail party. Their headquarters would be somewhere strategic, Las Vegas, Monaco, Barbados, any where they could keep a family, a mistress, and the hookers were good looking.

I think the UN has created more problems than it has ever solved. Do you remember Moynahan's book A DAngerous Place? He wrote it about 30 years ago, but just as true today.

Rainbow 6 was Clancy military masturbation fantasy at its very worst.
This is a UN Standing Army by any name. It would start at 6,000, and soon be 600,000.
Any US citizen volunteering to serve in it is a traitor.
Any member of this UN Standing Army in the USA should be dealt with as such.

20 million scoped deer rifles can't be wrong.

I predict that we will probably see this, and the "Tobin tax" enacted during the administration of the next demoncRAT.
Things will begin to get very interesting then.

I'll support it, so long as EVERY LAW prohibiting US Citizens from owning and operating the EXACT weapons that the RDF uses is REPEALED and a Constitutional amendment is created guaranteeing thosee rights in perpetuity (basically they have to restate the 2nd Amendment to allow for attack helicopters and tanks among other things).
Like they'll ever agree to that.

The germinal UN Standing Army, once given its own source of funding via a UN controlled "Tobin Tax", will rapidly morph into a Frankenstein's Monster.
20 million deer rifles might just barely be enough in the end.
