Mr. Mackie read from statistics taken from the Handgun Control website, where in Texas and Florida, by carefully selecting the periods for which you wish to make a comparison, it can be shown that during certain periods following passage of shall-issue laws, crime increased. He said that in Texas 23 CCW licensees have been arrested for murder.

Dr. Lott noted that of those 23 CCW licensees in Texas arrested for murder, 90 percent were either released later as self-defense shootings or were acquitted.

Don't ya just love the gun control advocates and their half truths?

The government is here protecting the felons from buying firearms in the open and threatening law abiding people from lending each other a hand.

In a poll conducted by Celinda Lake earlier this year,

92 percent of all Americans surveyed, and 86 percent of gun owners, said they support background checks for all gun sales.

So, one can only guess how she worded her "poll" questions and/or picked her "respondents" to get such results.

Does any news organization take this stuff seriously enough to print a "press release" such as this?!

How many firearms were used to commit the attrocities of September 11, 2001? NONE. Not a single firearm.

Even Michael Moore realizes this.

Twits.

these people will exploit (yes, exploit) a national tragedy to further their goals all in the name of "Homeland Defense". I hope everybody that supports the "Homeland Defense" issues, goals, etc. is happy when we have to get permission to travel somewhere from some beauracrat, and we are not allowed to own firearms, and the press is silenced or only speaks the gov't line, etc.

I know, I sound like I have a tin-hat on, but it's getting kinda peculiar watching all the sheeple be scared.

I'd sure like to see background checks and verification of identity applied to visa applicants, and to voters.

Currently, it is extremely difficult for law enforcement officials to trace the source of guns recovered in crime because there is no centralized database of sales.

First of all, very rarely does a criminal leave the gun at the scene of a crime. In those rare instances that he does, it is highly unlikely that it is registered to him. So what have we accomplished here. Oh yeah, now the police know where to go when to order comes down to disarm every American...every honest American, that is.

Awesome post Harpseal......facts ! undesputable FACT !!! I'm so sick of these elitest, self centered and lying socialists. "Ms Potato Head's" and "Everythings Rosie's" have body guards but the single mom living in the burbs is supposed to fend for herself with a Broomstick and a poodle.

Laws are only for those that will follow em........

BTW I hear all these groups are getting funding from United Way now.......they have a code on the donation sheet's listed on the UW web sites here in Texas.

Stay Safe !

Yes, it is so nice for United Way to fund gun control groups and the legal aid groups that are representing the civil interests of those detained in the terrorism investigation. In the past we have agreed that it would be rancorous on our part to wish Sarah Brady ill in her battle with cancer. I still would much rather defeat her viewpoint logically and in the public forums but the level of lies had incresed from them. I am almost starting to wonder if such sentiments on my part are counterprodctive. Iknow they are not but I find their willingness to pursue their agenda when it is clearly a hinderance to the war effort of the USA to be beneath anything seen to date.

Good for you! These gun-grabbing groups have NEVER held a candle to the training and adherence to existing gun laws that most of us who have guns practise every day. My three boys, now grown men, all have been to the range with me, as has my wife, and feel totally comfortable and safe around firearms. Not one of them has ever had an accident or used them irresponsibly. My wife never was used to them until we married 34 years ago and now fully understands, appreciates and supports my position on ownership and use of firearms. And I live in one of the most restrictive states on firearms, New York. Good post, Padre!

How many shootings have 20,000+ gun laws stopped? How many rapes have rapes laws stopped? How many murders have laws against murders stopped? How many buglary/theft laws have stopped these crimes?
We don't NEED any new laws unless we want to stifle the freedoms of law abiding citizens. Enforce the laws on the books. Criminals, by definition. do not obey any laws. Isn't that what makes them criminals?

The Left it seems is down to the last despicable Naziesque trick, racial hatred. From the grubby, stupid ethnic grievance groups that signed on to this garbage to that guy who occupied the room with Prof. Lott and tried to debate with race baiting silliness about AA and how it relates to the gun debate. I say it is time for an aggressive counter attack.

Let me get this straight...

...in order for Americans to protect ourselves better...

...we need to give up the most effective method of self-defense?

I wouldn't yawn to loudly, friend. It is precisely these times these fools are the most dangerous.

Oh, I will always keep an eye on what the enemy is doing, but the fact is that right now the brady mommies have collapsed fiscally, politically and popularly. The clinton administration, with it's challenges in the courts and justice department are gone, replaced by Bush and Ashcroft. The aftermath of 9-11 has changed a lot of peoples ideas about self defense, and also where they send their charitable contributions. Smith & Wesson, boycotted by many gun owners and enthusiasts, has showed an increase in sales due to first time buyers, many formerly anti-second amendment. The brady mommies will never go away, but they are a pale shadow of what they were two short years ago. But they still have to go through the motions of acting relevent.
