I personally don't feel they wording GOA used to talk to McCain is an effective way to communicate. But I agree with the message they are trying to get across.

Way I read the headline: 'McCain Trying to Kill Armed Pilots'

McCain is an idiot; he is also allowing thousands of potential terrorists from many countries to continue to walk into the U.S. and Arizona every day across the Mexico border in Arizona's remote backcountry.

McCainal continues to show America that he may be the most dangerous Anti American Senator in the history of our country!
It has been a rough week for ground war McAinal, and now he is going against the majority of Americans on this. Even liberals for the most part are for the pilots and co pilots carrying weapons.
His land war stand, this stand plus his biased finance reform stand are proof that he hates America and the conservative approach/solution to any problem! He is truly a dangerous man to most Americans with the stands that he takes!

Wasn't McCain a pilot who was shot down by an enemy of the US? Wasn't he carrying a side arm at the time, as was required of all flight officers? Does McCain think that flight officers on military planes should not have guns?
I thought that our military men were required to avoid capture and that the gun was one of the tools that would help an attacked military pilot. Why would McCain believe that the pilot of a commercial airliner is any less obligated to avoid capture by an enemy of the US?

Sorry, but I don't want pilots armed. I want them locked in an impregnable cockpit landing the plane if there is an incident. I want armed marshals outside the cockpit dealing with problems. What good does it do to have locked and barred cockpit doors if they just open then up to play Rambo?

McCain Trying To Kill Armed Pilots Amendment
There are times when I wonder if it was John McCain's un-named twin that did the
time in the horrendous Hanoi Hilton.
I just think there must be a cabal of Senators and CongressCritters in mortal fear that
if they give airline pilots/crew more latitude to arm themselves...pretty soon people will
ONLY fly the "armed airlines".
And maybe their BIGGEST CONTRIBUTORS don't run/own the airlines that WOULD arm their pilots/crew.

Call the airlines and ask rates times etc. for a trip. Then when the agent is ready to book you ask if the cockpit crew is armed. When she says NO, tell her that you will not fly on a plane with an unarmed cockpit crew.
A few thousand calls like that and the airlines will demand that the pilots be armed.
I will not fly on a plane if the cockpit crew is unarmed and suggest that no one else do it either. It isn't safe and there is no reason these people are unarmed.
Pilots should strike until they get the right to fly armed. About three days of no air traffic and this crap would end.

McCain really does despise the "little guy". I hate to say this about a vet, especially one that suffered what he suffered, but he really is fast cementing the notion that he really is an SOB from "a way back"!

Subject: Should pilots be armed? Dear Sen. McCain:
I wish you would stop trying to force your elitist agenda down our throats. You are well aware that the American people are strongly in favor of voluntary armed commercial pilots, yet you insist on thwarting this eminently reasonable and effective approach to flight security.
Let's say a pilot successfully stuns a hijacker. What does he do with him? Who is going to disarm him and tie him up? The last thing you want is a live hijacker on your plane. The hijacker has to be killed not stunned. Stun guns are an absolutely ridiculous method when you are at 30,000 feet.
I'm sorry to have to say it but I feel you've been in public service beyond your usefulness to the people. Perhaps it's time you sought retirement and let someone else serve Arizona, someone who can hear the people's concerns and act in their expressed interests.
For guns in the cockpit,

He's ticked off that the House won't budge on federalizing airport security personnel (which he DESPERATELY wants), so he's rocking the boat on arming the pilots.
He's the GOP's version of Bill Clinton.
