We are at war! This is a part of war! Usama and his merry band of little men declared war on us September 11, 2001, to try any POW's in a civilian court is contrary to the rules of war!

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers, D-Mich., said Wednesday a decision by President George W. Bush that terrorist suspects might face a military tribunal adds to questions about civil liberties. If anything, this order is smoking the usual people out. Dascle already said he is "concerned" (as to his other stock response, where he says he is "troubled").

Before 9/11 I thought Conyers was a fool. Now I believe he is in the opponents' camp.

I didn't notice him (or almost anyone else) calling for hearings before the "Patriot" act was passed. In fact, I have heard that most if not all members of congress were not given a copy of the law before it was called for a vote.
A law is passed that effectively repeals the fourth amendment with only three dissenting votes. And this jerk is crowing about "rights" for non-citizens?
To: Elkiejg
Is this before or after he has hearings on baseball contraction.

Conyers and his Socialist Democrat buddies are only a half step behind these Arab Barbaric Spies who will be tried in our country and who are still throughout our Society.
People who intend harm to our citizens, and our country, like the WTC Bombing do not deserve equal Protection.
. That wouldn't bother Conyers, He's too busy making sure People like Clinton can sell the country out.
I think President Bush has got it right and we don't need any comments from the likes of Conyers and his Socialist Buddies in the Democrat party.

Mr. Conyers, you are either with us or you are with the terrorists.
Decide.

He Would

Conyers is only interested in disrupting the country, and personal gain.
He has no interest in representing the people, he proved that in every attempt he made in derailing the impeachment proceedings!
To: Elkiejg
screw this commie sympathizing jerk! he's another 'soft spoken' creep like D'@$$hole!
To: Elkiejg
Tell Leahy he'll get a response to his letters once Bush's judicial nominees get a hearing. Elitist jerk...

I suppose, and it is logical to deduce, that most Democrats are very ignorant (meaning "unlearned") in the construction of our Republic. For starters they consistantly call our nation a Democracy when it is really a Constitutional Republic. While I might be inclined to believe that this individual is not so ignorant of our laws, it is also possible that he just doesn't care. He might be acting this way solely to create havoc for Political Gain.
But we are at a time of WAR. Any American, especially those whom are supposed to represent us, must participate in a positve way towards the protection of our union. Failure to do this is Treason.
We are at a state of WAR. We shall treat our prisioners, not as criminals subject to the legal laws granted citizenship, but to the punishments deserving of our enemies who dare to attack us. Failure to realize this is more than ignorance. It is treason of the highest accord.

Now, if only we can get these socialist (disguised as DemocRATs) to care as much about economic freedom as they do about personal freedom.

"Here go the DemoRATS again!! Sorry, I don't believe the illegal aliens have the same rights as American citizens." How can you find fault with a representative for voicing concerns that "We would be remiss in our duties, however, if we did not also oversee the extent to which the Department may be abusing its authority and wrongfully targeting innocent Americans."
What's the matter with you -- you don't care for the Bill of Rights anymore?
Would his reaction have been as vitriolic if President Bush had said the same thing?
To: Elkiejg
Conyers also called for reparations and impeachment of the Supreme Court. He's a dumb@ss.

"House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers, D-Mich., said Wednesday a decision by President George W. Bush that terrorist suspects might face a military tribunal adds to questions about civil liberties."
Why?... What 'questions'? This has nothing to do with civil liberties. Laden is not a U.S. citizen and they have already stated that there would be NO military trials for U.S. citizens...Indeed, a military trial is the most appropriate means of dispensation in this case.
This is a non-issue.
More Democrat/Marxist propaganda...

Of course Conyers doesn't really care about the civil rights of terrorists, this is just the usual non issue to undermine confidence in President Bush that this despicable man is best at.
The framers did not intend that the rights and privileges of our constitution extend to non citizens. Human rights are for everyone, but the rights he is speaking of for criminal trials etc. are clearly meant for citizens.
This is war, therefore military trials seem to be the appropriate venue for war criminals.
I suppose the partisan hack wants to defend the terrorists, correct?
