An unruly passenger faces a felony charge after an incident on board a US Airways flight from Pittsburgh to Reagan National airport.

Flight 969 landed at Dulles instead of Reagan National airport shortly after 5 p.m.

A law enforcement source says 33-year-old Raho Ortiz of Northeast Washington got out of his seat and walked toward the front of the plane despite warnings to remain seated.

Passengers are not allowed to leave their seats a half hour before landing at Reagan National airport under new security rules imposed after the September 11th terror attacks.

Sky marshals were on the plane. The source says one of them tackled Ortiz and arrested him. The source says Ortiz claims he was getting up to go to the bathroom. He's expected to be arraigned tomorrow in federal court in Alexandria on a charge of interfering with a flight crew and failure to comply with their instructions.

Airport officials say more than 100 passengers on the plane were interviewed ! by! the FBI.

Passengers were offered a bus ride back to Reagan National.

Maybe he was going to the bathroom to clean up, after barfing up the last in-flight meal they served him.

I wonder why they didn't mention either of these facts.

Raho Ortiz, a Senate Indian Affairs Committee aide, was charged with the malicious wounding of Christopher Stearns, a House Resources Committee aide, during a July 12 party. Ortiz's arrest came after Stearns filed a complaint with police alleging that Ortiz had thrown bottles at him, cutting his leg, and then cut him in chest with a large knife. (Washington Post, July 23, 1998, Metro, p. D4)

The recommendation was made that the CALFED agencies should be educated in regard to the tribal sovereignty and other issues. This task was given to EPA since they already have a program presently that educates inter department personnel in regards to tribal protocol. For more information, please contact Raho Ortiz, EPA at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Raho Ortiz, deputy counsel for the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, said Sen. Chafee is not the only member of Congress who is not supportive of Indian tribes and nations and their efforts to obtain economic security for their people. Because of this, he urged USET delegates to become more involved politically. He said this is made more serious by the fact that many members of Congress who were friends of Indian Country have left office. Their replacements, said Ortiz, need to be educated about the concerns and needs of Indian people.

Anyone who gets unruly on a flight deserves what Rodney King deserved (the a$$ kicking, not the money settlement).

Why can't people just obey the rules?
How difficult is this?

Whiz was exactly what Mr. O. was trying to do. Maybe someone could pass him an empty PET bottle?

Raho Ortiz

According to Clintons speech, we were attacked Sept 11th because of how we treated this mans ancestors. Clinton must be ralling his troops.
Clinton gave this man terrorism rights.

Washpost story Drudge is linking to now mentions he's an EPA lawyer. Want to be he's a Democrat stashed away at EPA following the fall of the Clintonista regime?

PS: The story also said he was holding some pot when arrested. Bet he didn't know it was there but it belongs to a friend.
