Not surprising at all.I work for an airline, and you wont believe the security delays we take. The average delayed passenger?White middle aged american males and females.Yesterday,we delayed a flight 45 mins when a screener wouldnt let our crew through security without a complete search of the flight attendant and the first officer's person and bags.Reason?Random spot check.Fine, okay we know we need to address security, but crew mwmbers?Okay let me rephrase that;white Arkansas girl age 25 and a black 34 year old first officer.Im sorry, profile the Middle Easterners, not Americans,we didnt do it,they did it.Random profiling to justify employment? No way.Sensible profiling done trained professionals?Absolutley.

Random profiling to justify employment?

This is to prevent a charge of discrimination.

I don't want to hear any nonsense about "how long the lines are going to be"...

maybe the liability lawyers have done their cost analysis, and similar to
giant auto makers, have balanced the actuarials.
put the national guard on the ground, in the hangars, in the cargo docks.
they don't need to watch the xray techs or coddle the public that something
appears being done. time to do something useful.
focus groups won't save lives here. sack all xlinton holdovers, as well.

My bra kept setting the hand held metal detector off. I'm glad they didn't make me take that off.

Discrimination isnt the issue here.We know who did it,but Americans are bearing the brunt of the extra security measures.I have lived a good portion of my life overseas and know what its like to be the minority,As a result,I respect other cultures, ethnicity, etc. But racial profiling is now a reality.I just dont see why the wrong people are getting profiled.

Anybody here ready to discuss the "turbulance from previous aircraft" explanation now making the rounds?

Well, if this doesn't prove that our 'heightened security' isn't worthless, then nothing will.

Guard the planes and let me have my knitting needles back!

I know it is quite exciting when you fly through it in a Cessna 150! You become more of a passenger than a pilot for several seconds. It felt as if I had lost all lift and lost probably 200 ft. The aircraft that made the wake was nowhere in sight.

My 18 year old daughter flew from Minneapolis to Denver and back a week ago. When she got home I asked how the security checks were and her comment was:

"Well, Minneapolis was good. I felt safe on the airplane. They made everybody put their carry on stuff on the conveyor belt and they checked it and then they looked inside every one of them. They had us walk through the metal detector thing and then everybody had to stand there one by one while they used that wand-thing to go over you. If nothing got set off after both metal detectors then you could go through. If it did then you got sent over to another line where you got patted down.

In Denver, you put your stuff on the conveyor belt and nobody looked inside a single one that I saw and everybody just walked through the metal detector. I didn't see them use a wand on anybody or pat anybody down even if it set off the alarm.

If I was a terrorist, I'd work out of Denver."
