Handgun Sales Plummet in California to Lowest Level in 30 Years
Handgun sales in California have dropped to the lowest level in 30 years, according to new data from the state Department of Justice released on Nov. 6. Handgun sales this year are on track to be the lowest in the nation's most populous state since California began keeping such records in 1972, despite a brief upswing following the September terrorist attacks.
Through the end of October, handgun sales are down by 16 percent compared to the same period last year and down by 35 percent compared to the first 10 months of 1999.
"Despite the gun lobby's hype following the terrorist attacks, handgun sales have fallen dramatically over the last decade because most Californians don't want handguns anywhere near their kids or their neighborhoods," said Luis Tolley, Western Director of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "This huge decrease in handgun sales over the last 10 years represents a seismic shift in attitudes toward handguns. More and more families are deciding that their families are safer without having handguns lying around."
However, the question still remains as to what we true American patriots should do to stop the Million Mom March, Brady Center, and other gun control freaks who continue to commit acts of cultural and political domestic terrorism against true Americans and our individual right to keep and bear arms, even post 9/11.

Also, sales of handguns say nothing about the rate at which criminals are acquiring them in comparison to prior years.
Really? The GOP just took over the Virginia House Of Delegates for the first time in recent memory. Also, a syndicated "mainstream" media column yesterday attributed Warner's win for governor as largely being due to his coming to a truce with NRA on gun issues!

But during the riot years of the early 1990s, gun sales averaged about 11,500 a week.I think tougher laws limiting handgun purchases have been effective on law-abiding citizens (not criminals, of course), causing them to buy rifles and shotguns instead of handguns if they don't already have a handgun permit. That was true in my case. I'm still working on the lengthy permit process for a handgun in NY. It will take at least 6 months, and I might not get one or only a very restricted one.

Very true, however, the Brady Bunch and their police state type shills are still pushing for local, state and federal registration of ALL gunowners, without which they will continue to have a hard time harassing gun owners.
The Misled Moronic Moms and the Brady Bunch don't care why, where or how criminals get guns, they just want you, me and all other Americans to become gun control sheeple, just like the Europeans and other less free societies have denigrated to.
Actually, there was a lot more to the NRA's self-inflicted embarassment in Virginia's Governor's race than has been reported in the lamestream media. I believe there was a behind-the-scene deal cut between them, the RNC, Hagar's supporters, and the Inside-the-Beltway crowd. Even certain Northern Virginia country club Republicans are secretly happy Mark Earley lost. Those more rural counties that went for Gilmore in 1997, but, did not support Earley in this election will face the consequences of helping elect a "Clinton Junior" type democrat who will favor Northern Virginia over the rest of the state, especially on certain non-gun issues. But, then again, now I digress...
