Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton charged yesterday that the $1.35 trillion Bush tax cut "undermined our fiscal responsibility and our ability to deal with this new threat of terrorism."

"If we hadn't passed the big tax cut last spring we wouldn't be in the fix we're in today. But the fact is, we are," Mrs. Clinton said during an interview on a CNN special, "America's New War."

simple isn't an accurate description of this idiot's economic thinking, most 12 year-olds have a more sophisticated understanding of the causes of prosperity than is revealed in this truly pitiful opinion

eight years of prosperity...because we paid down our debt and got rid of our deficit

first, and got rid of our deficit is superflous, because as any moron knows, you can't pay down any net debt while you are still incurring additional debt by continuing to run a deficit

i will ignore the fact that scumbag variously said that it would take 10, 5, 9, 7 and 8 years to eliminate the deficit, all just months prior to being dragged kicking and screaming to sign the legislation

leaving eight years of prosperity...because we paid down our debt as the only utterance worth examining

it reveals her underlying belief that only the government controls our economic destiny by implying that no prosperity would have been possible if the government had instead run deficits and increased total debt

which, of course, ignores what scumbag wanted to do and actually did, as the fact is that total federal debt only started decreasing after 1999 (u.s. treasury debt totals)

it ignores the fact that it's impossible to credit "8 years of prosperity" to debt reduction when debt hasn't been reduced until the 8th year

it ignores the fact that the previous 20 years of prosperity had coincided with rising federal debt (not a causal factor, just a fact)

and, finally, although this economic illiterate would probably call herself a keynesian, her implication is that more debt reduction is always a good thing, a statement any actual keynesian would retch at

in any case, after ridiculing her statement, we should hold the imbecile to it and its implications, as it surely leads to the opposite of her real preference to spend all national income as she, and only she, sees fit

If the election were held today, would Hillary still be the Junior Senator or New York?

Amazing, that both hillary! and her spawn, with thousands of Americans still buried in the ruins of the WTC, the anthrax scare, and the threat of a possible nuclear attack on the US, find the tax cut to be the most disturbing aspect of all of this.

Hey hillary!, go straight to hell, and take your butt ugly daughter and your mentally ill "husband" with you! 20 posted on 11/11/01 12:21 AM Pacific by kattracks

Lazio got no help from Bush. Bush never took the Clinton move seriously. He has yet to discredit the Clintons.

How could Bush have helped Lazio in New York? If I remember correctly, Bush got even fewer votes than Lazio did there!

I don't want to hear from her on this but there are problems with the current proposed stimulus package. We should focus on that. The economy is in bad shape and we also took a big hit on 9/11. This is a time for the best minds to work together on this. People are suffering and we need to get things back on track. And if we have to make sacrifices for the war effort then they should be for everyone. We have to stay together on this so we can win the war that must be won.

If you hadn't stolen the election, the people of America and NY would NOT have to be listening to your dumb ass on CNN, but the fact is, you did.

Shut they hell up, Shillary, before you get booed again in your 'home' state!

Put a big cork in it, Lady. The effluence from you and your sociopathic family is, at best, odoriferous political diatribe. You continue to display abject ignorance of governance, economics, history, decency and values in your narcissistic behavior. Your time is past, people have seen you for what you are, most of your sybaratic sycophants have moved on and we wish you'd do the same.

We may not want to be too harsh on Chelsea (donning Nomex). After all she did heckle an anti-war, and probably anti-american rally at Oxford this week.

Yes, yes, Hitlery sounds the fool to us, but what about Boobus America? They would have elected America's first black President to a third term if they could have based on what they think was his stellar economic performance. Keep in mind how many people did not want him removed during impeachment for fear of what it would do to the economy.

No matter how many times we say that it's the same old song, it does not change that it's an effective song. If it weren't, there would be overwhelming Congressional majorities for Republicans, and I would have Bret Schundler as my new governor. And yes, dammit, it would be helpful if the Republicans would stand up for their beliefs. Since 1995, they have more often than not run away from defending their policies, leaving the RATS to do as they please.

Which brings us to Lazio. You have to believe the guy was totally demoralized after he was declared the loser of the first debate against Hitlery despite scoring an overwhelming victory. The media and the RATS spun her victimhood over Lazio approaching her, and in some quarters Russert's tough questioning, to declare her the winner. The Republicans, true to form, ran the other way, and it was over. Of course, there was probably a good dose of fraud in there, but without a challenge, we'll never know how much. All we know is the Hasidic village of New Square votes for pardons payoff, and that went nowhere.

Lazio could have beaten her, but it would have taken a lot of national support that the Republicans in office refuse to do. Again, since 1995, this has been a consistent problem. W did not win because of the perseverance of the national Republicans, he won because of his personal perserverance. If he had to rely on the Congressional Republicans to fight the post-election battle in Florida, we'd all be hugging trees for President Flavor-of-the-day Gore.
