The true power of militant Islam is not what they can do to us, but rather what they can deny to us.

Think about that next time you fill up your gas tank, turn on a light, or heat up your house.

What kind of benefit concert would raise money for six million dead instead of six thousand? The russians have been building civil defense shelters up until this day. If every nuclear warhead was detonated tommorow, there would still be 100 million Americans left alive. If we have no plans, that number would drop pretty fast.

An open letter to Democrats and all other liberals . . .

At this moment in time, George W. Bush is the correct president for this once free repuiblic !!! So stop second-guessing yourself. You know what you know . . . you know ??? The inner tickling that you sense is your own highest truth. It will serve you well. It's telling you to support president George W. Bush !!!

The backfire comes when you deny or discount it. Yes indeed, take in information from all sides, yet trust that inner tickling, knowing that you . . . and you alone . . . know what's best for you !!! If all day long you pine to paint, then paint, for that is what you must do. If you ache to walk beside the ocean, find a way to get there !!!

And if you, like so many millions of Americans, want to again move this country in the direction of unblemished truth, unfettered light and genuine prosperity . . . then do so !!! Because without complete trust in that inner tickle, you are left to rust at the feet of liberal democrats and their socialistic absurdities !!!

Therefore . . . Go . . . Now . . . Relieve your inner tickle . . . SUPPORT PRSIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH !!!

I am one of those Nuke Em Till They Glow. I have been advised from fellow FreeRepublic posters that I am an ignorant, panicked, empty headed @ss hole and as a result of their education I have learned that if even one nuke is used in this conflict, all the babies around the world will die. Therefore it doesn't matter what we do if they set off a nuke. We will all eventually die, and since all the babies will die, it will be the end of the world for everyone.

There are two questions here. One is what are we doing to prepare to survive such a horrible attack. Answer: nothing. An equally important question is what are we doing to prevent such a horrible attack. Answer: virtually nothing. The people who would blow us up and kill us all (if they get their hands on the weapons) are here among us now on legal travel visas. Or they can easily get such visas whenever they want.

FUTURE WIDOWS OF AMERICA: WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN

The enemy is in this country right now. And any terrorists who are not already here are free to immigrate. The government has been doing an excellent job rounding up suspects from the last two attacks. But what about the next attack? We thought there was only one murderous Islamic cell in America the last time, too.

Congress has authority to pass a law tomorrow requiring aliens from suspect countries to leave. As far as the Constitution is concerned, aliens, which is to say non-citizens, are here at this country's pleasure. They have no constitutional right to be here.

Communicate! Let the Sons of....

NOW IS THE TIME TO CANCEL ALL VISAS!! WE MUST DEPORT ALL ALIENS, ENACT A MORATORIUM ON IMMIGRATION!!!

I still have all the pamphlets, diagrams, and instructions from the early '60's.

I also have a box containing "Food and Water for One Person for 14 Days." It's completely intact, and dated 1961. In the box are a few cans of water, some vitamin-C tablets, and a can of "MPF." MPF? That's Multi-Purpose-Food. Shaking the can reveals that it is some sort of powdered substance.

I'd have to have to use it - its a valuable antique.

A better question than "What should Americans do?" is this: "What should the US do?" Take it even one step further: "Shouldn't we tell the world now what we are going to do if that happens?"

For some strange reason, our government is very reluctant to prepare its citizens for such a calamity, though acknowledging that such a calamity is not only possible, it's probable.

I disagree with this. I do not think it is probable a terrorist will deploy a nuclear bomb. First, the whole nation is more security conscious, so it will be harder now than on 9/10. Second, the terrorist must get a nuclear bomb. Their sources: U.S., China, India, Pakistan, Russia and its former republics, France, U.K., Israel, and maybe South Africa. All these nations have tight security on their warheads, except possibly the former republics. Russia and the U.S. are working with them to secure their supplies. If the terrorists could get the bomb, so could Iraq, and Iraq has not, yet. Third, even if they get a bomb, they must transport it to the U.S. A private airplane or ship is the best way. But this must be done with no security leaks. Not easy. Fourth, after everything, it must work. There is no guarantee it will. That is why there is nuclear testing--to ensure the mechanisms work. Added together, I would say this is in the possible category rather than probable.

Ruddy is right on.

As a young boy I remember "Bert the Turtle" instructing us school kids how to "Duck and Cover" in preparation for a Soviet nuclear strike. Since I lived in New York City (potentially ground zero), myself and my pals were fully aware than it was a wasted exercise but participated just the same.

Since those days, the "Nanny State" has grown into the mess we see today.

The shrinks running the public schools today are more frightened about the potential residual effects such warnings might have on the kids than the actual threat itself.

Why have we allowed America to decline so quickly?

The worst immediate effect of an atomic attack on Manhatttan, apart from the killing of several hundred thousand people and the destruction of property would be its effect on our financial system. Let us up that all these financial institutions have learned to increase their back-up of data. Let us home that in the worst case, that the government has some kind of hard money alternative available, to keep goods and services flowing if at a reduced level.

I'm all for preparation, but really, how probable is a nuclear bomb going off in NYC?

If I were one of the terrorists and I actually had a nuclear capability, I wouldn't detonate the thing in New York. For maximum disruptive effect, I'd take it to Washington, D.C. and set it off with absolutely no warning whatsoever. That would have a far more demoralizing effect on the American citizen than more destruction in New York. That would cause chaos, with a capital C.
