Baghdad, Nov 05, 2001 (EFE via COMTEX) -- Iraqi officials said Monday they were ready to hand the United States a "painful defeat" if Washington decides to attack Baghdad as part of its current international campaign to root out terrorism.
"We are prepared to defend our people and defeat our aggressors," Iraqi Foreign Minister Nayi Sabri Al Hadizi told Iraqi reporters.
Some conservative U.S. legislators have argued that the Bush administration should target Iraq in the American-led war on terrorism triggered by the events of Sept. 11.
But, al Hadizi warned, the United States "will pay a high price if it decides to attack Iraq. All the Arab countries, except Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, will oppose such an attack".
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait both host U.S. and British warplanes which have patrolled the skies over southern Iraq since the end of the Gulf War over a decade ago.
The foreign minister also reiterated Baghdad's refusal to condemn the terrorist attacks against New York City and Washington D.C. as much of the world has done.
"Iraq does not condemn what happened in Washington and New York as the hypocrites have," he said. "Why doesn't the United States offer its condolences for the more than 1.5 million Iraqis killed by its terrorist embargo?"
The United States is the main backer of economic sanctions imposed by the United Nations on Iraq following its invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and which are still in force.

Heh heh, yeah. Just like last time.

I'm sure that Iraq's defeat will be painful for the Repulican Guard, the Baath Party, and Sadam Hussein.

Now that's funny. Heck it's downright hilarious.

The "Mother-In-Law" of All Battles, this time.
I hope there are enough news crews there for them to surrender to.

"We are prepared to defend our people and defeat our aggressors," Iraqi Foreign Minister Nayi Sabri Al Hadizi told Iraqi reporters. Oooooo,I'm so scared...what, another "mother of all battles" for the Iraqi's? The ONLY problem we'll have, like last time, is what to do with all the POW's, who couldn't surrender FAST enough to the U.S.
YAWN.

"Elite Republican Guard" "Mother of all battles"
To: Liberal Classic
They had 8 years of Clinton to plan for this one, they've got thousands of their "soldiers" living here now with us. And no one's deporting the enemies yet which means we're all nothing but sitting ducks.

Well if their "elite" troops surrender at the same pace they did last time, we might indeed be in pain from laughing at them again.

Let me guess, Saddam has drawn a "Line of Death" in the sand. That man is like a turd that won't flush. They both just keep hanging around and stinking up the palce.

AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH! The more I hear these Iraqi diplomats whining about a possible US attack on their country, the more I think that someone has a guilty conscience. (What was hi-jacker/terrorist/murderer Atta doing at that meeting in Prague with a known Iraqi agent, hmmm? Shooting the breeze? Exchanging falafel recipies?) I haven't heard Powell, Rumsfeld, or President Bush name names...YET.
Cheers.

Yeah, we saw the "pain" those Iraqis could inflict after we chased them through the desert years ago. Those "battle-hardened" soldiers were surrendering to journalists during the Gulf War.
Talk is CHEAP. Iraq talks a big game, but when it comes down to it, they're nothing but cowardly camel riders who will pee in their pants at the first sight of a U.S. Army Ranger or Marine.
