If you thought it was an exciting series on TV, you can't even imagine what it's like to actually be there at the game. Hubby and I were there for both games six and seven, and it was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
Only two things would have made Game 7 better:
(1) NOT having McQueeg throw out the first pitch. That was a Defcon Delta BARF ALERT as far as I'm concerned!!
(2) Roger Clemens NOT going completely psycho like he sometimes does. Hubby and I were hoping he'd be hauled off in a straight jacket and muzzle like Hannibal Lecter--LOLOLOLOLOL!!!
If you weren't there at the game, don't worry, I screamed enough for all of you!!! Happy "World Champion Monday" to all of you!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
You don't know what you're missing. There hasn't been a Super Bowl yet that could compare with this Series for drama, grit, and heroic moments.
(and how very different from the other day when we were moaning in misery! LOL!!!)
Gotta confess that I was rooting for Arizona, if only because the Yankees have had their share of glory. Time to let others bask. Besides, if the Yanks had won the focus would have been on how the team came back and drew inspiration from the events of Sept. 11 and blah blah blah. That may all be well and true -- but this is baseball. A game. An enjoyable pastime. No need to find the metaphysical.
Thanks to the Diamondbacks, and the Yankees, for putting on the best World Series in recent history! Bet Fox is gonna love them ratings ...
The D'backs holding much of their celebration on the field so the fans could see it was kinda cool.
Get a life... now go and pee in YOUR OWN cornflakes!
In Arizona, rain is a cause for celebration. You see dancing in the streets while the water comes down from the heavens.
Others may have seen it as a bad omen when the drizzle started, but not I. I knew we were being smiled upon.
What a great series!
My hubby, a diehard Braves fan, rooted for your team like they were HIS team!
Why? Even though the D-Backs eliminated his beloved Braves, HE HATES THE YANKEES! LOL and was pulling for your team the whole way through the Series!!! just to take that smirk off Jeter's face......for one thing.
The flyover of the Stealth bomber and the bombs bursting in air during the National Anthem just gave me goosebumps. The hit by Gonzalez in the 9th and the resulting euphoria brought me to tears!
This is what America is really all about.
We take our frustrations out on each other (mostly) AT BALLPARKS instead of with bombs!
Again, what a great Series! Thanks, D-backs and Yankees - America needed that!
Typical NY media sour grapes. Two guys walking down the street are "rioting" to them when their guys lose.
Randy Johnson...UNBELIEVABLE. He figured it out, stared them down, and did it. It was magical, even on TV.
I am extremely proud of our fellow FReeper, Luis Gonzales, for his game winning base hit!!
Norb in Jacksonville
Same thing happened here in Nashville in 1999 when the Tennessee Titans pulled off the "Music City Miracle" and beat Buffalo in a game everyone had written off. The stadium holds about 69,000 but talking to people here in Nashville, it must hold closer to 1,000,000. Seems every single resident of Nashville was there that day!
Fitting 1 million in a 69K capacity stadium... talk about a miracle!
