OUR OWN MR. B. NEEDS OUR HELP TO RUN FOR CALIF. STATE ASSEMBLY!!
e-mail | John W. Brantuk, Sr.

Posted on 11/04/2001 10:54:48 AM PST by Mercuria

To My Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing you today regarding two very serious items:

1. To announce that I am running for the California State Assembly, District 56;

2. To let you know that I urgently need your help in this endeavor today.

Please read on . . .

Due to the combination of redistricting and term limits, there is no incumbent running for reelection in the 56th Assembly District. This resulting open seat is a wonderful opportunity for us to really make a difference in our State Government. As of this writing, there are only 2 major party candidates running for this seat; a Liberal Democrat, and me, a dedicated Conservative Constitutional Republican.

There is one pressing problem, however. We must raise the funds to pay the exorbitant filing fees (approximately $1000) required by the State of California in order to qualify for the ballot by the beginning of the coming week, as well as many other miscellaneous expenses. As I write this, we are far short of the goal.

Please note that no other Conservative Republican has stepped up to run for this open seat, and if we do not raise the funds necessary to secure my place on the ballot, we may well find ourselves in the untenable position of having a liberal Democrat running virtually unopposed for this seat. We must not allow that to happen!

Many of you have encouraged me to run for this office; I ask you now to please help make that possible by sending the largest contribution you possibly can today.

Please make your checks out to:

"Brantuk for Assembly" or "John W. Brantuk" (whichever is easier)

and mail them today, or as soon as possible to:

Brantuk for Assembly
P.O. Box 171
Whittier, CA 90608

If you'd like to make a donation immediately from your checking account or your credit card, you can also click on the following link and make it now using PayPal:

Contribute via PayPal

One last note: Please be aware that once elected it is likely that I will serve only one term in the Assembly. My actions in office will not be colored by thoughts of reelection, but only by doing what is right and what truly upholds the Constitution.

My purpose in office will not be to make friends; my purpose will be to make a positive difference, no matter who's feathers I ruffle.

Thank you for your support. I value it more that I can express.

Best regards,

John W. Brantuk, Sr.
Candidate for Assembly, 56th District
Current Chairman, 58th Assembly District Republican Central Committee
Member, California Republican Party
Phone: (562) 698-2870
Fax: (562) 698-2810

P.S. Whether or not you are in a position to make a donation today, please forward this request on to others who may be able to help. We must raise the necessary funds quickly.

Time is of the essence.

Again, I sincerely thank you.

" . . . a suburb of LA . . . does he really have a chance?"

We have an excellent window of opportunity here. With the redistricting and current Assembly members being term-limited out, the district is wide open for the taking if we run a serious campaign.

And, if you'll ask anyone who knows me, I don't run to lose. I am running to win, and win big!

Best regards,
-- John W. Brantuk, Sr.
Candidate for Assembly, 56th District

Perhaps Mr. B should FReepmail you his e-mail address so you two can keep in touch?

VERY nice of you to offer your services. I'm sure Mr. B will be heartened to know that there are people who want to really help out!

I just received Kenny Kramer's invite to his "Victory Party" in NYC - so I WILL donate to the underdog - but, why doesn't Mr. B have his filing fee by now.
I'm simply seeking more information on this potential candidate - why isn't the local conservative organization taking care of this guy if he's a worthy person? (Trying to understand the problem out there.) Good luck, Mr. B.

As you might have read on the thread...we just suffered through a noxious and confusing redistricting...I think Mr. B just recently discovered which district he's actually IN.

He also recently discovered that he's the ONLY Republican candidate trying to get in. Mr. B would not be throwing his hat in the ring if there were already a good Republican candidate on the horizon.

And this is Southern California...not as many "local conservative organizations" as I (or MANY here, I daresay) would like...but we're trying to beat the clock, in any case.

I'm sure Mr. B will address your concerns when he gets back to this thread...I think he's visiting in between getting signatures... **g**

I'll make a donation if you can raise the filing fee. If he doesn't have enough support locally even to raise the filing fee, he can't have much chance in an election. Not dissing him or his chances but you have to be practical. You and he both need some indication of local financial support and especially people committed enough to actually work to elect him. Raising a filing fee doesn't mean much if you don't have those other things.

Look to your locals and good luck. Let me know if he makes the filing fee and I'll make a modest Paypal contribution. You really should get a basic position paper out with a website before you ask people to donate.

What are the demographics of this area? IE; How GOP is it? How dem is it? (I figure it's a dem leaning area since no GOP candidate is going for it.).

Since I'm assuming it's a dem leaning area, what KIND of dems are there in the area? Is it a Hispanic or Black area? Jewish? Blue collar whites that are socially conservative but union(Dingell and Bonior voters)? Fiscal conservative, social liberal(Rioridan types).

I have to know a few things before I jump in.

Lakewood and Cerritos are both conservative, large hispanic populations in Santa Fe Springs and Norwalk. should be fairly evenly divided but there is no voting history since the demonccratic assemby's gerrymandering last month.

"I figure it's a dem leaning area since no GOP candidate is going for it."

Okay Dan, so what am I, "chopped liver?!"

I suppose I could over-anylize the area, calculate my chances, hire consultants to tell me what to think, etc., and then maybe decide that running for this office would be "too difficult," "politically unfeasable," "outside the likely parameters," or some other such rot. Or I could see a State that is going to hell in a handbasket, decide that enough is enough, put my head down and work my ass off to get elected to a position where I can make a real, positive change!

If we all decide that any area is too "this" or too "that" for a good conservative, Constitution-loving person to get elected, then that would make us a bunch of whiny quitters!

I will not quit!
I will not go quietly while a bunch of freedom-hating liberals destroy this country and all that it has stood for for over 200 years.

So, you can either join me and make this a hell of a fight for what we believe in, or you can please just stay the hell out of my way.

Respectfully,

John W. Brantuk, Sr.

Let's roll!!!

With all due respect W., come hell or high water, Mr. B. will raise the filing fee. He will need our continued support after the filing fee has been raised and I'm sure he will garner that as well. We look forward to your donation and thanks for the support!

Ummm... Actually Dan we do have a candidate - Mr. B! And to echo what gc4nra said, the area is anything but solid Democrat territory, we have the right candidate carrying the right message running for a new and open seat, that gives us a solid shot.

We could run a few miles away to safer Orange County territory and get in line to run, or turn tail and leave the state altogether, but some of chose to stay and fight on the battlefield we've been dealt. Remember, this is California - where redistricting was a royal screwjob delivered to us by our own legislators (yes, including the Republicans) whose sole interest was protecting and lengthening their careers. If our only interest was in taking shots at districts that looked like a sure bet on paper, we'd be a sorry bunch of gutless S.O.B.'s.

Thanks, Dan, I really do appreciate your help.

I know that we all want pretty much the same thing, and we all have different talents, abilities, financial situations, etc., so we all need to pull together and do whatever we can, each in our own way, if we want to make a change.

I promise that I won't let you, or anyone else who supports me, down.

Best regards,
John
