FReeper Vetnet Does It ! --- The Ballad of Mike Moran Is Awesome !
DOUG FROM UPLAND | 10-03-01 | dfu

Posted on 11/03/2001 5:52:12 PM PST by doug from upland

It all started innocently enough. After hearing Mike Moran tell Osama bin Laden he could kiss his royal Irish ass, I sat in front of the keyboard and did what I've done over 1100 times ---- whipped out a little song. The tune was a great Irish tune - WEARIN' O THE GREEN.

Vetnet has lurked for a few years and decided it was time to participate. He contacted me to let me know a producer was interested, maybe two producers. He made wonderful suggestions as we went through a re-write together on the phone. He did it all from there. He got together the singers, the engineer, and the studio. They recorded on Thursday, did some mixing on Friday, and I met him as he handed me a CD and tape today.

It was beyond all my expectations. The singers in Irish brogue were marvelous. Ladies and gentlemen, this is going to raise money for the rescue workers. With your help calling into radio stations and making requests, it could become the anthem of this war.

Vetnet, way to go, my new FReeper friend.

Despite the fact that the midi does not seem in sync a couple of times, in the studio it worked perfectly. "You'll pay the price" gets sqeezed in nicely, and "I'll" gets stretched out.

Mike Moran -- royal IA -- I'll send you FReepmail with my phone number if you want to hear it.

MIDI - WEARIN' O THE GREEN

I am Irish and was proud to serve with other firemen
Who gave their lives for us that day, each one of them a friend
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

Never thinking of their safety, only saving other lives
They never made it home to see their daughters, sons, or wives
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

Try to take our freedom and you've made a big mistake
The spirit of America you're never going to break
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

GOOD WORK!

Time to set up an order form, so folks can send money and get on the list now - Christmas is coming. It will be a good idea to get as many orders prepaid ASAP before people use up their Christmas budget.

The more prepaid orders we can accumulate BEFORE pressing, the lower the unit price can be due to economy of scale, and lower financial "risk" for the project. Takes a lot of pressure off knowing that you've already sold "X" amount BEFORE spending a nickel on production. Freepers will want to get extra for relatives, friends, and for giving to radio people. I have a few connections in radio in my little state. When I get a few, it will be on statewide right away.

My "ass" is Irish, too. Grandfather was in the Easter Rising of 1916 as a 13 year old boy from County Tyrone.

Doug and Mike . . . great work. I love Irish melodies and the stalwart souls behind them. FreeRepublic is like an extended family and this kind of talent serves as a great pick-me-up.

Doug,

Can we send a copy of it to:

.

The Hudson & Harrigan Show at KILT in Houston?
hudsonandharrigan@kiltemail.com

They are staunch conservatives, and they would love playing something like this.

What a terrific response. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad you were so pleased with the final cut. We had a great session making it.

I'm meeting with someone from KFI 640 in L.A. later today to have them give it go. I've been burning CD's til the wee hours for all these great leads we've been receiving on Free Republic.

I"ll have a website up this week with an order form for all who want to get their Christmas orders in.

It would sure be a great Veterans Day if this tune were hitting the airwaves, wouldn't it?

KFI. That Drudge's station here in L.A. Is he going to break the song? I guess I could then forgive him for hanging up on me and not allowing me to call in anymore.
