Haven't there been a few items detailing Islamists being on the inside of Fort Bragg? I seem to remember something about some of them being trained there, as part of some exchange program or something?
Been there, done that!
Good idea.
And, initial tests can be wrong. They could be showing a related bacteria present.
It can't be certain until it is cultured and grown and looked at or the DNA is anlayzed by Polymerase Chain Reaction.
If it is the anthrax bacteria, then it may be that the terrorists stayed at the place passing though and it could be a big lead.
North Carolina. Flea bag motels generally don't have voice mail and data ports in the 450 sq. ft. rooms. Nor weight rooms in the building. They are a naionwide chain of studio type facilities, generally renting by the week or month. Just the kind of place some terr would hold up. StudioPlus.
Unless it was a cold drop, the intention being that a member of the cell that would actually be distributing it was supposed to collect it.
Interesting questions:
Where in the john was it found?
Can members of the public use the bathroom?
Why wasn't it replaced with an inert substitute and then watched to see who arrived to make the collection?
It looks like a reasonable chance that the container DID contain Anthrax which means they are getting closer to one source of the mailings! Woo hoo!
Authorities have evacuated between 20 and 30 people from the StudioPlus Deluxe Studios hotel at 4105 Sycamore Dairy Road while testing a package for anthrax.
The plastic container was found this morning in a bathroom, and contained white powder, said Jason Brady a spokesman for the city of Fayetteville. One test for anthrax came back invalid, but a second test and a third test were positive, Brady said.
Quick tests are considered unreliable, and more thorough tests are necessary to determine whether the package really contains anthrax. Brady said the tests that were done on the package are 20 percent to 30 percent accurate.
A spokesman for the state Department of Health and Human Services said state officials have received 249 suspicious substances for testing. Of those, between a half dozen and a dozen had tested positive in the field, but all of them were ultimately not determined to be anthrax. The spokesman said that officials do not put much stock in field tests.
The package was to be taken to Raleigh for further testing.
The people who were evacuated were taken to the Honeycutt Recreation Center.
Fort Bragg officials said they were not involved in the investigation, but were being kept informed
Fayetteville Online will continue updating this story as new information becomes available.

In other words, these tests are wrong over 70% of the time.
Relax folks.

I wonder if instead of a restroom, it was found in a rental unit bathroom? Perhaps the room was still rented and a maid thought the container was suspect?
Doesn't look like a fleabag motel to me. What do y'all think?
Not just terrorists. Your tax dollars at work put TDY soldiers up in the place because of its proximity to Fort Bragg. Darling Husband spent six months there last year working with the PsyOps gang, and his home away from home was Studio Plus, Sycamore Dairy Road. So there is a definite tie-in with the military.
