How many jumped from the WTC towers?
Posted on 10/31/2001 3:16:12 PM PST by ErnBatavia
The media has seemed to suppress this (how many poor souls that felt compelled to jump from the burning towers) for whatever reason.
I, for one, would like to be armed with some sort of number who leaped to their certain deaths. I have a feeling, due to the "Vietnamization" taking place now, that this tidbit of data might come in handy.......right about the time some clown gets my '5 across the lips'.
Anybody have an idea as to the numbers involved here? Thanks in advance.

The horrific attack is quite horrible enough without obsessing on the gruesome and truly gut-wrenching way in which some of ours died. You miss the point of the topic; which has nothing to do with 'obsessing' on how people died on 9/11 but the fact that they did die a in a 'gruesome and gut-wrenching way' and for nothing but the hate-driven whims of twisted minds with 'a cause'.
Now, the liberal media wring hands and are 'obssessing' about possible Afghan civilians that have died while ignoring the horrible and totally unnecessary deaths of all who perished from being burned alive, crushed or jumping to their deaths as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
The big difference is that the Afghans had plenty of warning and a chance to stop the U. S. attacks on their country, but the Taliban refused to turn bin Laden over. The office workers at the WTC and the Pentagon, as well as the plane passengers had no warning - they just died.
Knowing about how many poor souls leapt or fell to their deaths that awful September morning is an excellent comeback to the liberal media complaints we're getting about Afghan civilian deaths. Seeking the number of jumpers from the WTC is not obsessing on tragedy but obtaining cold, hard and unpleasant facts about the manner that our people died to be used to refute those who claim that there is a moral equivalance where there is none.

I don't know, but whatever the count it was too damned many.

So sad that a thread like this is even needed. Incredible how people can forget such horror, planes full of men, women and children being used as human bombs, crashed into the sides of buildings.
And this comment from this ABC head that said he can not make a value judgement on whether the attack on the pentagon was justified. Folks, our national fabric may not be torn beyond repair, but it sure is frayed.

I have not seen a precise number; however, I did read that a bystander stated that unless one had been there, one could NEVER ever realize what the scene was like in the time shortly before the collapse of the first tower. He said that the entire street had become "a carpet of shoes" from all those who had jumped from the burning infernoes.
I do not have a link for you, but if I run across where I read/heard this vivid depiction of the WTC Atrocity, I'll post it for you.

Yes, I did hear that some people on the ground were killed when they were hit by the jumpers. I recently talked to someone who lost a relative who was hit by a jumper.

that is part of the PC history rewrite - you'll also hear liberals say that he was killed by "falling debris"; the truth is, he was killed when the body of a woman who had fallen from the WTC landed on him.

I spoke with Rabbi Potasnik who is one of the chaplins for the NYC firefighters. He also was part of the memorial service on Sunday. Father Mike died of a heartattack while giving last rites.

Thanks. I didn't want to think about the press hiding this from us. I preferred to think that there were no children harmed. But, oh that picture that's been posted on here...haunting.

So .... which is it???
Or is one the way we want to remember him?
(I don't have a problem with that.)

I agree with you about sending these photos to the peaceniks!. At the peace protest in Austin this past Sunday the no-mind students actually had a sign listing a death of an Afghan child (not doubt killed by the Taliban and the info provided by the Taliban) and I thought to myself that there was not a shred of sorrow, grief or anger on the part of these commies, socialists and brain-dead fools for our innocent victims here on American soil. We need to get graphic and in their faces. These b@st@rds are NOT going away. I intend to fight back at every peace protest in Austin.
If you are interested do a search on the Counterfreep in Austin. There were 200-300 of them and only 20 of us, but we got good coverage by the local media.

Yes I heard the same report, but then later I heard that the chaplain I died of a heart attack, I think. Really do not know which is factual.

Regardless of the way he died. He did so doing what he loved to do. Care for the souls of his beloved firefighters.

Your right. We must know the facts and we must remember.

I don't know what truly happened, but if one was hit hard enough, it could cause a heart attack.

I know a man whose office was adjacent to the side of the WTC where most of the people were jumping. He said that he personally witnessed at least 40 people leap to their deaths. He is having a very difficult time dealing with it.
