The United States is a great and diverse nation and that diversity gives it strength, as long as within that diversity there is unity of purpose or nationhood; on the other hand, a diverse and divided nation is doomed. To paraphrase for emphasis, it is essential that the US has national unity in its diversity, in fact, unless it does so, it is likely that it will have entered the terminal phase of its history.
There are many alien nationals, not to mention many members of Congress, sociologists, "politically correct" liberals, who believe that it is okay to live in America, to prosper in America, to take advantage of the opportunities offered in America, and to take away from American citizens who have legitimate needs, but who themselves have no intention of becoming American citizens. What a deal! That's the best of all worlds, all the benefits without responsibility.
Those who come to the United States to live and to enjoy its benefits on a permanent basis without assuming citizenship responsibility should be sent back to their homeland. In fact, there are an estimated eight million illegal immigrants, and millions more legal visitors, students, etc. who have overstayed their visas. It's time to clean house. By doing so, in addition to clearing out many potential enemies, it would ameliorate the present economic downturn.
The magnificent words, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." always puts a lump to this writer's throat, yet if these international opportunists come to America with no desire or intention of becoming citizens, they should go home. (Granted; limited exceptions for age, health, and some political or social refugees.) And for those citizens whose allegiance is not to the United States, but to one world government and includes abrogation of the US Constitution, either get on board, or in the alternative, may the door hit you in the backside as you leave.

America has always been diverse. At the time of the revolution, Pennsylvania had so many German immigrants that Franklin considered whether they should make German an official language. And the argument about assimilation was made about non protestant Irish and later about "inferior" races from Italy and Eastern Europe. One third of Hispanics intermarry (Jeb Bush comes to mind) as do one third of Asians. Perhaps the Muslim immigrants won't intermarry at the same rate, (Since I know personally of several Muslim Christian marriages, this might not be true) but I suspect they will become more secularized and integrate just as other religions did.
Now, if you want to complain immigrants are Democrats, you might have an argument. And the more immigrant bashing in "republican" sights you see, the more they will become Democrats...
They weren't immigrants. They were here illegally in most cases. We don't even know the real names of some of them.
I bet yer gay.
Although the rest of this article is interesting, this part is scary because it perpetuates the liberal myth the diversity is somehow good. Diversity not good, diversity bad. At least when it comes to American principles. When a sub-population opposes America, like many Arabs do, then this "diversity" is bad. When a sub-population plans on keeping its own language and culture and even citizenship but only wants to take our jobs and use our welfare, school and health-care system, like many Mexicans do, this "diversity" is bad.
We must oppose this idiotic idea about diversity in and of itself being good. When we speak of principles like liberty and responsiblity, any opinion to the contrary is bad.
